No exaggeration, i hit a -boulder- on the highway with my 09. Front passenger went up in the air ~3’ from the impact.

Fought to regain control, and came to rest on shoulder. Got out expecting to see the whole front suspension trashed. Tire was ripped apart, wheel -was- trashed. Truck was fine. Put the spare on and took it to dealer next day. Zero damage, so wtf did ur truck hit :/

A lying, scheming POS jumped it and the entire weight of the truck came down on that side. You know, “hit a curb.”

I think they’re using the shotgun approach. I’m sure the knuckles bent, but beyond that, hard to say. I can understand them not wanting to put a knuckle in it, and then check it and see if something else is bent, but I have a feeling they’re replacing a lot of parts that there’s nothing wrong with. Easier for them to just say, “you need everything on that side”.

He said i can get away with just knuckle for now, but still thinks something else is wrong. But really hub and bearing

It depends on how hard of a hit it was. If the tire still held air, it’s highly unlikely that the hub and bearing got hurt. If the wheel got folded like a taco and the tire split open like a hot dog in a microwave, I suppose it’s possible that it hurt more stuff. Now, something else to consider. How many miles are on the wheel bearings? If there’s 60K miles on them and you don’t have the ability to change them yourself, you could have the bearing done as a preventative maintenance. However, that’s assuming they’re going to use a quality bearing.

42k miles in truck, isn't the bearing and hub a complete assembly set? I hit a rock on a trail but not that hard going fast just enough to jerk me.

If the bearing turns smooth and isn’t loose, I wouldn’t replace it , but it’s your call. The bearing and hub are pressed together. They unbolt from the knuckle. When replacing them, you can do bearing only or bearing and hub. Most people, including me, do bearing and hub from the guy here on TW.
