2020 paint fading?

holy shit. i looked that up and it seems like EXACTLY what im dealing with. Definitely going to bring it in to a toyota dealer and ask them to fix it or replace the hood with a new one.

 

How could anyone let the paint get that bad?? Worst case that truck is 4 years old and looks like that? I don’t know the backstory but Toyota should have jumped in to take care of that wayyyy before it got to this point. Crazy.

 

Yup. A lot of vehicles on the road have shit paint jobs from factory. I’ve been a painter for 30 yrs. Seen it a lot. Definitely take it back. If they repaint hood. You’ll be fine.

I had a body shop for years. Mottling is a tough thing with metal flake. It wants to bunch together. If it were my truck I would rather live with the factory mess than have a re sprayed hood. They will never get the match 100%. And the right way would be to blend into the fenders. You may never see it but I would.

Not true bro. A good painter can match and blend color all day long. Go to a reputable Bodyshop demand for adjacent panels to be blended you will be fine.match factory orange peel etc. Been there done it

I agree. I would definitely get this in the service record.

 

Then you have a brand new truck with painted panels. I would never want that. And I dont care how good the match and painter is, I would see it.

Since you have 150 miles on it, have you tried to wash that area? It could just be detail spray / wax that wasn't wiped completely when it was delivered to you. My 2020 had similar markings on the sides. A nice microfiber towel fixed it up to a perfect shine.

 

I read on another post that some guy lemon his truck because of paint issues.

 

is the super white still single stage or did they change that

we used to paint new vehicles that were damaged in transit. customers never noticed, so no you wouldn't see it.

 

Are you sure? They were no clear coat forever I thought.

 

I sometimes wonder if people have ever seen the inner workings of a plant, dealership or kitchen.

Mistakes happen and most of the time you'd never know
