Errors entering vin number in online forms

Hi,
I am a new member and a new owner of a 2020 Tacoma Access Cab SX. Wherever I need to fill VIN number on online registrations I get an ''error'' message. Is this a common problem or unique to my vehicle.
I will appreciate your help..

Check the vin number tag on the lower portion, drivers side windshield. You must be entering the wrong number.

 

Thanks... I was using the number on the title and the registration papers..

 

When you open your drivers door there will also be a sticker there that will have your VIN, it should begin with 5 on the access cab.

 

I got a zero confused for the letter o, had same issues till I got it straight

I did everything I possibly can. All the 17 digits of the VIN are identical. Meantime I found out that the VIN is a quite complicated process.

what online registration are you trying to do? i live in hawaii and can not register on the toyota corp. to view maintenance history and add DIY oil changes, ect. hawaii is not part of the mainland toyota

Just for everyone's reference, there are no letter I (eye) or O (oh) in vin#. They are always 1 or the number zero.

 

I'm guessing you recently got the truck. You need to wait until it gets put in to their system. It takes at least a couple weeks. It was about a month after I got my 2020 before the Toyota apps and online would recognize the VIN.

 

Thank you. I think this could be the reason. Because even Toyota's online registration does not accept it.

As was said, there are no letter O's or I's in VIN's. That said, your VIN looks correct, I suspect you will just need to wait a bit for the vehicle to be added to the system.

On a side note, it looks like you have one of the first trucks produced at the new Tacoma plant in Guanajuato, which just started production.

It was months before the dealership's website that I purchased my taco from accepted my Vin. Good grief.
