Even if there is a pirated copy, I'm willing to bet TW mods/owners would want, or be able, to support it's circulation.

One of my buddies that works at a local big name (who shall remain nameless) dealer, worked with a couple other techs, who were stealing and dumpster diving factory service manuals. Factory X traced illegal Ebay sales back to them. The are no longer employed there and needed legal representation,,,, to say the least, brand X went full force to make an example out of them, and warned they will continue, as they have a team just for this.

I for one love to at least have online access to the Factory service technical manual. Break your outside mirror ? Want to see where the screws are and process for swap?? Need to replace a broken dash trim piece ? Need to adjust something? How about wiring info/pin out/wire colors to add a trailer wiring harness. How do I remove/replace that trim piece?? Am I getting hosed by my mechanic ??

IF you always want to pay someone else to fix your car - or just ignore the issue - then you don't need the Publication.

    Not exactly ;-)

I'll repeat it...Why does any normal person need an engine/transmission schematic for a new Toyota ?

All you did is answer why someone is considers themselves not normal (they rebuilt a Fuller 13) would need one. That I get. Mad skillz and all that..

You don't need the publication to fix your car or truck.
Normal people just watch a YouTube video, Google it, or post on a forum. Only un-normal people need The Publication.. It proves that they are hard core and not all about silly bolt on appearance parts ;-)

Not being a jerk, but that didn't get me any closer to the request. Thank you for the uber helpful input though!

    It's been done before, sadly.

I’m normal and un normal at the same time

YouTube for a quick rundown and the manual for the complete step by step (with torque specs). I’d rather be sure than completely rely on bob saying it’s 83ft lbs… for most things.

that 16 manual is a bear to navigate but I did find out after endlessly scrolling I can enter search words and access outlines :anonymous:

Stock AF. My 68 Bronco and 2000 2.5RS get the mods.
For those snarkingly asking why OP wants to see a factory service manual: because he does. Maybe the guy just wants to learn something? Leave him be. Offer support or don't respond.

I have FSMs for my past jeeps and my current two subarus. They, too, are PDF mountains and it's clear to see how much of a pain they were to make if they weren't already formatted like that. I'd like to have one for my Tacoma for torque specs, wear specs, tolerances, etc. Not having one right now helps keep me from messing with the truck, that's probably a good thing.

Odd that you found the post you are quoting as being "uber helpful" even though it was't directed to you but you did not mention my post where I suggested combing your local Auto Parts store for a manual OR downloading Tor and getting one from the web ...

Perhaps you should edit your post to say that you are looking specifically for a pirated copy at no cost delivered to your inbox ?

Am I mistaken that the fsm cannot be purchased at any local part store. Those manuals they carry on the shelf are imo worthless

I found out after endless scrolling , I guess the app I use calls them outlines rather than bookmarks

Edit- mine shows the main sections like the ss above. Can you see subsections too?

I agree with protection patents and priority information. But, There should be a reasonable limit of non access to the "end users" (i.e. the little guy/end purchasers). You spend over $30K for a vehicle and while it's under warranty - the dealer is responsible. AFTER that time period it is the end user who must pay and repair. I for one believe it is not fair to the end user to force them to only use a certified dealer - or - a shop that spends thousands on reoccurring subscription services (that get passed to the end user) to fix something you own. This includes access to TSB's, repair "campaigns", error codes, etc. The Manufacturers get a nice chunk of my wallet for the vehicle - "reasonable" access to repair for personal use, IMO is little more that freedom of information to the consumer ... JMO

Edit - how about a size limited, time limited access for reasonable fee ? i.e., $20 for x hours and xxx MB downloads ??? They would be making money as well and prevent dumper diving and associated cost ...

TIS has everything - tech bulletins, recalls, repair manual, wiring diagrams, campaign publications, and accessory install guides. TechStream is available as well, for extra cost, for ECU updates. (You need a special cable.) The only restriction is security access in TechStream.

TIS is one of the reasons I like Toyota. Full access at a fair price. Some other manufacturers, not so much.

Im in this camp. I’m not a mechanic, I’m not profiting off the info. I feel I have payed my right to know how My property works (you know what I mean) and use said Info for personal use.

I wish the tsb etc database was hard to find but public and free as well. They have possibly known issues that you can keep an eye on but instead if you don’t know what your looking for it can get missed (and possible too late for warranty) ie. 3rd brake light horror stories out of warranty!
