    Looking to upgrade the brakes next after the OVT TT kit. Upgrading to a big brake kit (front and rear) in my old BMW e39 M5 was one of the best mods I made to the car. You would get butterflies from the G's stopping hard from 60 MPH. Everyone underestimates the importance of good brakes, especially in a sports truck with boost.

    With the rear drum to disc conversion, how is the emergency brake modified going from drum to disc? Thanks

    I would also like to know about the rear disc convert. Do you have to replace your master cylinder control? Is this going to mess with the ABS/crawl?

    From all the kits I've looked at there is either a drum inside the rotor or another caliper added, Depends on the brand.

    The rear disc conversion has custom CNC hubs that accept a drum style brake shoe on the inside, retaining the manual Ebrake. It should not affect crawl control as all that does is pulse the brakes anyway. (It might be more aggressive.. we’ll see)

    I sent all the calipers out to Get custom powdercoated, but in the meantime the rear conversion is in full swing.
    I was a little concerned about fitment now going to a 380mm’s on all 4 corners(bigger is better.. right @crashnburn80? :D), but after test fitting, I have ~1/8” clearance from caliper to inner barrel. These wheels are going to be stuffed with brakes!

    Sexy AF.

    Going disc in the rear typically needs a larger MC to prevent excessive pedal travel due to the increased volume displacement of rear calipers. SOS sells a kit for a larger MC swap for non-ATRAC trucks. ATRAC trucks are not so easy since each line is independently electronically controlled, not a basic mechanical vacuum boost like the rest. From what I have found it looks like you can use a 2010+ 4runner ATRAC MC which is larger to accommodate the 4runner rear discs and the larger 4runner front caliper volume, however the 4runner MC part is about as expensive if not more so than the BBK kit. I hadn’t found anyone that had done it and wasn’t ready to be the guinea pig. But if it worked out, braking power would be much improved over the Tacoma ATRAC system.

    I wish I knew more about this stuff to get into this level of modding but reading all of this brake conversion stuff I just feel like it’s another language

    His entire truck is an entirely higher level than most of us have the knowledge or means of doing. Sure is nice to watch and dream. :hattip:

    @MESO is also more willing to break and push boundaries then a lot of us. I mean look at a lot of the original mod stuff, he either started it or refined it to an art form. There’s a reason we all buy his stuff and watch his build. Dude has done tons of trial and error, which shows in his work and build.

    When I upgraded my Beemer's disc brakes to a larger disc BBK, I swapped out the OEM brake MC for a similar but larger brake MC found in larger BMW vehicle which worked flawlessly. The result was worth the risk. However, this was an older model beemer without worrying about the electronic ATRAC system.

    My truck is a MT so I don't have ATRAC. I'm guessing it would be easy to swap to a larger MC if or when I do the rear disc conversion.

    MT trucks have ATRAC, you don’t because you have a Sport and ATRAC only came on the OR or Pro.

    For non-ATRAC trucks SOS sells a kit to use a Sequoia MC, taking all the guesswork out of it. But not compatible with ATRAC trucks:

    I figured you were looking for gen2 stuff but you said, “is he even open anymore.” His primary focus seems to be gen3 and, literally creates new products every few months. So very much so active and open for business.

    No “fan boys” are pissed off, it just seems you want to complain because there are obvious ways to reach out and get updates. Every product says email when available, and some even say limited runs. I get that you “want” something, most of us do. However, why make a comment on his thread to complain, when you failed to give even minimal effort into answering your own question.

    You have over 2k posts, so I’m sure you’re smart enough to just send a pm as @RyanDCLB said. That would’ve avoided having to even make a comment. At least then you’ll know if or when he will come back out with gen2 stuff. Additionally, like I said, he does batch runs on some items, so that’s probably what you should ask about in your pm.

    @MESO
