I think it comes down to what you compare it too, compared to our old Ford Transit that the taco replaced, it shifts great. Compared to my Tundra and dsg GTI it’s not really that good. It’s reluctant to downshift on the highway and 4,5,6 gears are to high and it lugs the engine.

But what if you hung your truck off the front bumper? Or the rear bumper? Thats more like all these TW members are doing. Hanging all their weight on the front and/or rear and above the cab. Their trucks would drive much gudder if they were carrying those steel parts in the bed

Just hit 10k on my 19 DCLB OR, lovin it! I commute roughly 400 miles per week for work (highway miles). I drive 65-80ish mphs on the regular, and find having it on S5 lets me keep the rpms around 2200 to cruise and get 20 MPG consistently! When I drive short distance around town, drop it to s4 to let me cruise in 4th to maintain good mpg

There seems to be plenty acceleration when passing after dropping a couple gears but mine does drop a gear or two when a semi or a gust of wind or a small grade is confronted. It does get annoying, but the Sport does ride great on the highway and suits my needs.

My 2015 was in the shop for several days for warranty work. They gave me a 2020 TRD Sport, DCSB. The interior is so much better than my 2015 and suspension felt amazing. I was ready to trade in my 2015 and upgrade.

And then I drove it to work the next day in my usual DC morning commute and it was absolutely miserable. The transmission is horrible. You never know when the truck is going to move forward when you hit the gas or when it’s going to fall on it’s face and you’re thinking you’re going to get t-boned. I couldn’t wait to get back to my 2015 after a few commutes in the 2020. That transmission is the worst shifting trans I have ever driven.

This was my experience at first too but the ect button pretty much solves this. It keeps the rpms up and it doesn't lug the engine nearly as bad.

Been reading EVERYTHING I could find on here and else about 3rd gens for about 6 months so I tried that truck with a list of things I was looking for. I wanted to pick it apart. So ya 45 minutes was enough to know most of what I’ve been reading was BS especially for the type of driver I am.

I’ve had lots of cars and 3 trucks, 2 full size and 1 Nissan. I’m telling ya, that 20 had more power than my 79 ram with a 318.

The 20 Tacoma is a great truck.

I’ve had the pleasure of being in a rented ‘20 OR (with300 miles) for the past few days on a work trip. The ride is excellent, I haven’t noticed any issues with the transmission, and I’m generally going to be sad when I have to turn it in. Love all the little amenities.

Speaking of the ride, I’ve been driving on some horribly potholed Cleveland streets, in ice and snow, and it handles everything like a boss.

    Great truck.

Np. Good luck. But be aware that a low mileage truck runs just fine, 2000 miles later you may start seeing/feeling the influence of "learning" process. Invest in the hardware/software to reset learning values.

Every single forum I've ever seen is filled with people complaining about the Trans, engine, ride, mileage, noise, comfort, etc. etc. etc. of every vehicle in production. People outside of Forums seem to be happy with their vehicles.
