Thinking of getting a high flow cold air intake and cat back "performance" exhaust.
What say you ? Waste of money ?
Or go for it and get better gas mileage and more HP ?
Any one who has done it have recommendations ?

Everyone on here (that are a creditable source) say that it’s a waste and there is absolutely no performance gain.

The "tuners" will tell you waste if money. I installed a Borla cat back on my 19 3.5 , I have no number prof of increased performance however engine sure runs smoother and doesn't sound like its fighting with itself when you get on it. The Borla is a pretty quiet exhaust compared to some so if noise is what youre looking for Borla isn't the answer. Its just slightly louder than stock.

Skip it. Cut the exhaust at the axle, so you don’t have a donger dangling down. Looks better, DOESNT drone, and won’t snag on anything when you’re off roading. After that, consider your naturally aspirated system optimized.

Pfft, typical "tuner" who doesn't know what he's taking about. I scoff in your direction sir.

Tuners think that adding psi and tuning is all you can do. Ive got a Borla cat back and k&n panel filter and it sure woke up my 3.5. Sure, if you wanna go full tilt add some psi and a tune but for a daily driver is not needed.

Install a k&n drop in air filter and call it a day. If you want noise consider the Gibson exhaust guys like around here.

Personally I think the 3.5L sounds like ass with exhaust modifications. The 2.7L gotta be worse!

FWIW, the TRD catback exhaust that came with my Pro sounds nice, but I don't have anything to compare it to with regard to performance.

I wouldn't personally. Even the v6 doesn't sound very great with an exhaust. I have an aFe exhaust on my 4.0 and wish it was deeper. I think it would make the 2.7 sound like a Subaru honestly.
