Safety Recall required Replaced frame, rear leaf springs, headlights plus several other less significant recalls
wondering if others have endured so many recalls like my 06. New frame, leaf springs, headlights, airbag, and several others resulting in lots of calls and time with dealer service. Never had so many recalls on any new vehicle purchase. Am starting to wonder if I will end up replacing half the truck with components that have not failed with other manufacturer purchases. I always keep my vehicles as long as possible and bought this one due to its high manufacturer quality image. I got rattled when my frame rotted out on recall inspection. I live in Hawaii and we have no salting of roads. Plus Toyota had this happen before and did a buy back with past Tacoma’s models. Why have I not been offered a buyback option on a vehicle with this many problems, some major? And is a do you really able to handle reassembling an entire truck on a new frame? Now I am left with a dealer repair that resulted in my truck marking sounds it never used to make Including rumbling with idling. Toyota never queried me whether I was satisfied with the repair And instead had to do battle with a dealer. I was hoping to get some insights on others experiences by joining this forum. While I still like my vehicle as it has demonstrated positive attributes (Not the least of which is high resale value which may come in handy as my frustrations mount with the vehicle), i’m not sure Toyota would be my next choice most importantly because I don’t think Toyota is listening to the customer or is sustaining a quality culture when it’s focus changed to becoming the largest auto manufacturer in the world.
Currently I’m going back to the service department with another problem – another common problem as admitted by the dealer – a failed wiper transmission. With all the concerns that I’ve raised, I’m wondering why I’m shelling out another $400 and more of my time while I am losing money from work as I sit in the service department. With 80,000 miles on the vehicle which has been very well cared for, I’m hoping that my experience has been an outlier. I’m wondering whether there is a way to get Toyota to listen.
