There's a thread on here somewhere explaining the swap. The plug has to be changed during the swap. The swap is using parts from a later year Tacoma. To my knowledge there isn't a black version available that is plug and play.

I thought about doing that mod as well but after thinking about it damn near every vehicle has black so I decided to keep mine silver.

Ya I understand that, but that damn silver trim is driving me nuts. I've been trying to fully delete all the silver interior trim. As you probably know, the trickiest part is those damn climate rings and buttons and they stick out like a sore thumb.

Ya I saw those threads! if it comes down to it, I'll do the conversation. There's a guy on here who makes the harness and just a bit of trimming is needed. From what I learned the plastic face pieces can't be swapped. But I could be wrong haha but its worth a shot IMO :D

I wish it were that easy. I ended up buying a used climate control for $68. Now I'm on the hunt for a '12 tacoma plug to make a harness (pig tail) and or someone that can make me a couple.

Plus I want the white LED look.

    Absolute PITA little mod

Building the harness might be the easiest way but you would have to research the male and femLe connectors and pins. If you find a reliable source and the two wiring schematics post it, i am interested in collaborating but i have to finish the suspension issue right now

Not sure yet, a fellow member and I collaborating on a couple harnesses for our trucks. I believe with both connectors (which comes with pins) is under $12s not including wires or shipping costs. Once we figure out what website we're going to use I'll post it up here asap.

I was wondering what you would pay for that harness but it sounds like you have it under control.

Haha I feel like we do, it all comes down to making the harnesses correctly. I'm going to try and order extra connections.

It's cool AF that you shared the information that you found. However a lot of people don't want to make their own parts, especially electrical parts that involves wiring. I thought you might be one of those people which is why I asked what you would pay for one. I saw an opportunity to make a little cash.

*SOLD* Because of order minimums, I have enough materials to make another harness. PM me if anyone is interested.
