Of course they sell the info. Also, 99.9% of free apps that so many people love, aren't free. They sell everything they learn about the user.

For a loooong time I kept it secret but is common practice now...
In a form or other, all info ends in the hands of the government...to remain "private" I would sign-up on EVERYTHING that requested personal data and each data was wrong, as correct name but wrong SS, or correct SS and address but wrong name, or correct name and SS but wrong address. It all stopped when I got a visit from a dude in a cheap suit asking census info. Gave him wrong info as well.

Do not answer "Yes" to the scammers.
They record the yes and it ends up being a charge that they say you verbally approved.
Look it up. Recording you saying yes.

I got that call and answered.
I kept asking a question when the guy asked can you hear me?
Finally he called me a mutherf=cker and hung up.
    I laughed my ass off.

Yes, I have heard about that. Oops, I mean that's what I have heard. Never answer 'yes'.

If I say anything, it's 'I can hear you, what are you selling?' Or 'What do you want?'.
It's always a very short call after that. Most times I just hang up without saying a word.

I pick up the phone, put it on speaker, mute the mic, and just let it sit. It doesn't take them long to decide that its a dead line and they're just wasting their time.

Likely for compliance with California’s new online privacy laws. For all the criticism CA gets, at least that state is trying to do something about giving consumers options for protecting personal information.

When I was looking at new trucks I went to the Chevy dealership (Mistake) too, and I got calls everyday and emails. At least until I blocked the number:cool:

Toyota does not bother me though, which I appreciate

If something is free and you can't figure out how the website is making money then the product being sold is you and your info.

What? There's undigested berries in bear scat? Glad this rock I've been living under wasn't mentioned.
