This guy knows what's up. Broke my cherry in moab. Though one road comes to mind that might be a bit much for a stock long bed and I think it was called long canyon road. I was sweating it on the drop offs in my stock truck.

    This should be repeated.

Moab, even the green trails, are not something you should try if you don't have much (any) off road driving experience. There are some great trails out there, but you should really cut your teeth elsewhere.

Now, if you're going with some folks who ARE experienced, and can help spot or help you out of a jam, sure, give it a shot.

One more suggestion. The books in this series are really good and the advice they offer is solid, middle of the road and sound. I’m not affiliated with the author, publisher or any part of the guide book business, I just really like and recommend these guides.

OP, Please feel free to PM me if you want to talk more about exploring southern Utah. I just noticed you are Canadian (I had the privilege of serving as a military exchange officer to the Canadian Forces back in the late 80’s at CFB Greenwood, NS- want to make sure to take care of our Canada peeps traveling so far into the US). We have vacationed in Southern Utah and Colorado and I’m happy to chat and offer suggestions. We have had some unique experience staying in off the grid (but luxurious) homes near Moab. Cheers!

Thank you so much!! It's responses like this that make me love this forum that much more. I'll definitely be reaching out to you the closer I get to the trip date! I guess, at the end of day, I just want to have visited Moab, and not being able to wheel technical trails isn't going to be deal breaker.

No worries about my longer wheelbase in the high Rockies of Colorado!
Yes, get sliders. I got @Mobtown Offroad with top plates and kick outs. My wife thinks they are side steps!

There ya go. I wouldn't do it any other way. Especially with the DCLB.

I'd definitely be down! I'm based in Edmonton. Do the trails lead to scenic spots or are they muddy fireroads?

Depends where you go, some trails are pretty much just gravel service roads and others are mud bogs for miles.

Were these sliders at all difficult to install? I have DCLB too and I am looking at Mobtown Sliders at the moment. Actually I have half my underarmor already paid for with Mobtown. Can I do a one person installation?

I mean... if you're trying to convince the wife or SO that you need sliders then...

ABSOLUTELY. YOU WILL WRECK YOUR TRUCK WITHOUT.

    *hope this helps* ;-)

These were the first I have installed and did them by myself. Not hard, obviously depends on your mechanical ability.
