Bilstein 6112 & 5160 lift

My lift was only an inch and 3/4’s and I got the vibe. Had to get the ecgs bearing.

 

4WP are idiots. They said the same thing until I showed them a video of it. They had trouble getting the CV out so I had to step into their shop and help them. I will never go to a 4WP ever again. Average joes off the street

 

I did the 6112s in front and 5160's in back a little less than a year ago at 5/4. Still rubbing and I bought a bumper so I also have 650lb springs I can put on, was thinking about 6/5. Not sure... I also came upon some used SPC LR UCA's so I put those on.. I put the OME darak heavy's in the back with wheelers poly bushings. I have 285/70/17's Toyo M/T's on so they are loud anyway. Did the spacer.. and did the ECGS bearing replacement. Figured I'd get it all out of the way. Everything is working well so far.

Hey Guys I’m here just asking for advise. I know that some guys here more educated when it comes to there rides. Which I gave you guys the most respect. I’m just trying to get advice from every source locally and online.
With that being said is there any shops in San Diego that will do the install with the ECGS bushing install? Also that is familiar with the install?

 

I’m pretty sure there are people in SD who are on here that have done it many times that would probably help you do it.

 

I put the 6112 on my truck on the 4/3 setting and have no issues I chose to not do it and see if it needed it or not. being only 1 - 1.25 in lift in the front.. it worked for me, no issues. might not for you or the next guy.. not a huge deal if it does or doesn’t. If you want to do it now, go for it.. Its far superior to a needle bearing in that application even if you would have not had the vibes.

 

I bet if you changed it, you’d notice a smoother ride

 

Hey you could be right. It runs down the road nice as is right now. When the need arises I will do it the next weekend. That is a given.

Drivetrain maybe but not driveline.

 

Not part of the driveline lol. Learn about drivetrains man. Driveline vibes on these trucks are rear end related, remedied by axle shims. Front end vibes are primarily caused by this bushing where the axle goes into the differential. Or by alignment numbers not having enough adjustment, hence, UCA’s.

What’s up fellas. So after installing the
6112-5160 Set up, I also did a diff drop just for safe measures. No ECGS needed yet but it’s on order. Seems like I’m going to need a AAL in the back to keep a true level. As I went
6-5 on 6112’s.
Any recommendations as to who has good quality leaf?
P.S. The new feel on this shocks is pretty good I would say.

 

I HAD to change to ECGS bushing due to vibrations. As soon as you remove the needle bearing, you will understand why it's a great idea to replace it.

 

The 3 leaf AAL is what used, I’m very happy with it. It’s very smooth, yet stiffer, but not anything like the single AAL.

 

Shitty. Can that happen because of the lift or do you think it broke when you were removing it? Hope you managed to fish out the broken piece too?

 

I'm on 6112's with 6/5 setting (driver/passenger) in the front with Wheelers bumpstops. In the rear I have Wheelers 3 pack add a leaf with Wheelers U-bolt flip kit and Wheelers rear bump stops. Essentially the "Smitty" build. Rides pretty great with some armor to. I have a rake which is what I want. You're rear end should be a little higher with an add a leaf and 6/5 setting on the 6112. Can post pic of stance if needed.

 

This can happen even without a lift. Some stock trucks have bad vibes, there is a TSB to replace needle bearing.

That was a photo I found here on TW. But mine did break like that too. Happened upon removal I assume. I stuffed plastic bags into the diff opening, to keep anything from falling in there.
