Seems like a lot of folks are selling their Tacoma’s?

I have been browsing through a few threads and I keep seeing a lot of folks who are or who have already traded their Tacoma’s off for either a full size or 4 runners. Etc. Is this more of a room thing, or power or what? I just find it interesting how many I have seen recently that have sold or moved on.

I think it’s more a “Toyota says it’s normal” kind of thing

I traded my Tacoma in for a 4runner for the interior space. Larger family and the Tacoma couldn’t facilitate that. I loved my taca, however things change.

~250,000 new Tacomas sold in 2019, so I'm not sure what qualifies for "a lot".

Most people I know/seen selling theirs was due to needing space for kids.

I'm keeping my Taco...I like the fuel mileage it gets over a full size as my commute is about 68 miles per day.

Probs most for space. The back seat is small for kids let alone an adult. And on long trips the taco is uncomfortable af. The seats aren’t that comfy after an hour or two. Others have dumped them cause the anemic motor trans combo gets unbearable after a while. If I did more highway driving I would’ve traded it by now. Gotta few more months/year before I get out of mine. Be at like 30k miles when I do. So I guess you can add me to the list. I like the truck, it’s solid. I can’t live with the driveline, to drive it for a few more years.

I’m gonna keep my taco until it dies, it’s my adventure truck! I do however want to add another Toyota to my fleet in a few years. Probably a 4Runner.. We’ll see...

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I recently bought a Toyota bedmat and Predator bars from a guy who had just sold his Tacoma after a couple months. When I asked why he said because the navigation system sucked. I'm used to real trucks having wing vent windows and roll up windows. Navigation sucked?????

Loool. Really?! I really like the navigation on my 2018! Works great offroad! Coordinates, drop pins. Saves spots. You can see lakes. Most stuff. Any hardcore details I run a few apps and you can get your way around anything.

If they are selling/trading to get a full size truck, then they bought the wrong truck to begin with. If they are getting a 4Runner, then they bought the wrong vehicle in general to begin with. Some people bought the Tacoma because of the cult following, and then realized it was not the vehicle for their lifestyle. If you have kids in a car seat, dont get a Tacoma. If you drive around adults that need to sit in the back seat, don't get a Tacoma. If you carry stuff around that you want to stay secure or don't want to get wet, don't get a truck.

Yep, I am thinking of my next one will be a TRD Pro 4 Runner. It is about the interior room for the kid and grandkids.

I traded for a 2019 Tundra. I mainly just wanted another full size. Been driving Tacomas for over 11 years and figured I would give the Tundra a try. It’s a great truck and the V8 is awesome, but I’m kind of missing the Taco.

Also plenty of people that trade and end up back in a Tacoma. More so when they trade for domestics, it seems.
