I searched and didn't see a true answer for 3rd gen. Maybe a dumb question.

    I have a '17 TRD 4door 4x2 SPORT.

I plan to pick up a pallet of pea gravel and then back for another pallet of river rock. My travel is 3 miles on a good road. The rocks are in a large "bag" close to a ton.

What risk am I making? Could I do it and be fine if I take it slow?

You would have to be crazy. That's at least double the weight carrying capacity of the Tacoma.

Agreed, this is why trailers are a thing.

Okay, thanks. The idea is that I can drive my truck to where I can drop the rocks. With a trailer, I would have to wheel barrel the rocks quite a ways.
But if it destroys my truck, not much I can do.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
    Trailer.

Or figure out how much each bag weighs and only load to the payload capacity of the truck and make more trips.

    Or get airbags installed.

Find a friend that has a larger truck or rent one. Day rental isn’t that expensive. Lot cheaper than the damage it could do to your truck.

Good. You would have bent your axles. Toyota’s axles on the Tacoma on not known to do well with that much weight.

Rent a truck from Home Depot if you want to get the rocks right to the dump site.

The weight limits aren’t strictly warning you based on what the suspension can handle. Lolz. Some of you. What’s going to happen is the brakes are gonna over heat and catch on fire and then you just won’t be able to stop...coasting, overloaded, while enflamed.

Who knows what you will crash into.
