A few weeks ago making a beer run I had someone slam the door open against my slider. Scared the shit out of me because I was still in my truck.

I went outside to find out what's up only for an old guy to be yelling at me that he was going to sue me

There's also that Honda I told you about last year that tried to cut me off

yeah I've been waiting for something like that to happen TBH, someone makes a mistake and then tries to blame me for the damage because their door hit some steel armor part of my truck. Sad thing is if they really wanted to pursue it they probably could, hell we live in a state where a burglar can sue his victim for getting injured while breaking into their house.

ARB is the only bumper that has crush cans that I know of. Which helps with impact. I dont know anything about the airbag stuff. I am happy with my Trailgear low profile bumper. Looks great and one of the more affordable since I do not know how to weld.

That's kinda like that urban legend where a dude cuts himself while breaking into someone's house, then sues the owner.

I don't think that's a thing. You'd have to show gross negligence, and an intention to harm.

There was a (real) case a while back (like the 1930s iirc) where a dude was tired of his vacant farm house getting broken into, so he set a trap using a shotgun and some string on the door. Low and behold a dude was shot (don't remember if he died, but the jury did find that the owner can't set traps like that. This story over the years morphed into the urban legend of the dude getting injured while breaking into someone's home.

Long story short you're not going to get sued because someone hurts themselves on your bumper unless they can show you put that bumper on *specifically* to harm someone.

Reminds me of the story where someone robbed a store or something while marines were outside doing a Toys for Tots drive.

The perp was subdued by the marines after he "suffered severe bruising and battering" after he tripped and fell :anonymous:

    it's definitely happened

    https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2016/03/09/shot-home-intruder-lawsuit-joe-balistreri-legal-fees/

    https://www.nydailynews.com/news/na...-burglar-sued-shooting-back-article-1.1192641

But yeah I realize it's quite a stretch to compare getting hurt by my bumper to getting shot during a home robbery lol. I just don't put litigation past anyone in CA, and even if they aren't successful in suing it's still a headache and expensive process to go through if they actually do the legwork to get it going.

Anyway...what was this thread about again

Oh yeah...I got no problem with the ARB, it's a good classic looking bumper IMO.

Well, it is CA, and those stories do involve firearms (although neither were successful), as did the shotgun case I mentioned. Although that case I'm pretty sure wasn't in CA, and had entirely difference circumstances, since no one was in harms way, as it was purely property crimes, not a thread of bodily harm.

yeah I just wish it had the headlight hoops on it, but that's something I'll work out with Sergio before too long

plate bumpers >>> tube bumpers all day, er'y day

Although some tube bumpers with headlight hoops look pretty good, and I do dig some of the hybrid tube/plate designs

I remember being back and forth about maybe asking Sergio to build me a front bumper, or asking someone here who shall not be named cough* @jbrandt *cough to fab up a hidden winch setup...

If I drink less, I don't buy shit impulsively :anonymous:

You should do headlight hoops same time you do a rear wrap around

Get an arb or at least buy something new cuz if you don’t get ALL the mounting options in the box, depending on your year/version of truck you are looking at a nightmare unless you are a GOD at fabricating brackets. At least with arb. Also might get in hot water with home made mounting options if insurance and lawsuits ever get involved from an accident (unlikely).

I've been meaning to ask you: what do I do with all this duct tape I already bought for that project?

    Making brackets is easy.

It's making them look all cool with laser etching and all that is the hard part.

I'm just some goober with an angle grinder and a welder, and I made these pretty easy.
