I believe it's all brick--concrete crown and clay flues. The flues look great when I've looked down from above with a flashlight--no cracks or anything that I can see.

This is what it looked like last year after a couple of rounds of brushing it with muriatic acid. I ended up doing a couple more then sprayed sealer on it, but it's regressed to looking about like this again. Whole thing is about 17 ft

Well, if it's all brick then it might just be the facing bricks that need work. I'd say have a mason take a look at it and give you a recommendation. It might just need a repoint and a few new bricks.

Nevermind - we have a chimney guy down in RI that's been good to us.

I mean once they wear. I wouldn't push these things to 100k O.O

Then again when the time comes I'll probably go for skinnies.

Wasn't aware that we had new rules. I am not a fan/want tint anyway, but last I knew RI and NH were both pretty gung ho on enforcing tint laws. I'll PM you where I go.

My house was built in 1955 ish. The stuff you find doing a simple repair is astonishing. Looks like Benny's had a sale on wiring because someone used purple jacket wire in my kitchen for AC mains hot. Somehow. Somewhere. For some reason. I put everything back and put the plate back on and didn't f#$% with it.

Hey everyone - anyone familiar with the Holyoke area? I've got an appointment at Endangered Species 4x4 for my cab mount chop next Wednesday (11th) morning and will be looking for something to do around the area for a few hours.. Figured I'd Uber somewhere close by and entertain/ caffeinate myself for a bit or grab lunch.. Any suggestions?

I’m having a new boat built for work, have to pick it up in the next few weeks from Canada.

My girlfriend used to live in Easthampton and has taken me to a couple places she knows there. I like Riff's Joint a lot. That's one town over from Holyoke.

Grew up in the surrounding area. Endangered is in “the flats” of Holyoke, notoriously a dangerous area slowly being gentrified. Not a ton going on in that specific area but The Dam Cafe is local and has good food and coffee; low key spot you could waste some time at. Are you interested in food and drink mostly?

Yeah when we redid the galley kitchen there was a live wire just hanging down in the wall with exposed ends and there was a florescent light wired straight to the breaker box....and then the kitchen sink...holy god...what a disaster... There are no right angles in this house and the wall are 2x3's..FULL gutting...

I did have the ice breaking package added which gives the boat a thicker hull.

It’s a landing craft. I work on an island and ferry contractors and supplies back and forth. I can drive a John Deere Gator onto it. We just recently purchased a kei car or “mini truck” which can be loaded with supplies and drive on and off the boat.
