I'll burn through HF drill bits all day and all night, but I can't get myself to trust their torque wrenches. I do have their big generator as a back up gen for the house, which is working fine, but I have to basically pop start my belt sander to get it running. I'd say I have a 40% success rate with their stuff so far.

I've got a snap-on tq wrench, but the HF's really do get great reviews on forums. I think there's even a thread here about them. I know they are highly spoken of on jeep forums

I should also admit my Craftsman torque wrench is hit or miss on if it's going to click or not and I've stripped a bunch of Aluminum threads out of my dirtbike's engine because of it. Maybe I should give HF a try.

I've always wanted to get 3 maybe all 4 sizes. The 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 are all $20 and the 3/4 is $80. I don't know if I'd really need anything other than the 3/8 and 1/2.....but for $20.....would grab the 1/4 while I was there

I use ugga duggas for putting tires back on. Anything more technical/involved than that and I'll grab the torque wrench.

I've never done anything that technical by myself. I had my 79 Waggie motor rebuilt, but the mechanic only worked on it when I was there and let me get my hands dirty with it.

    :oldglory:

I have some HF stuff … little stuff like electrical tape, work gloves, nitrile gloves, and I do have a 1/2" torque wrench that works great. I've used Craftsman tools for years too, but that's a thing of the past. For tools, a lot depends on how often you're gonna be using it. I don't make me living with my hand tools, so I can get by fine with cheaper alternatives. :notsure:

LoL  Is that the scientific NASA approved "ugga dugga" scale? That's a great quote … gotta remember it; should give my grandkids a laugh if I can remember to slip it in sometime.

    I actually think it's a real thing.

    Edit: It's a thing

Craftsman just announced that the Ft. Worth, TX plant is almost ready to start making tools in the USA again. Maybe it's time to come back home. Just something to think about.

That's great news. I still have my 300+ piece set my dad gave me over 20yrs ago and not a single problem from them. I've had to replace a few sockets from misplacing them

Spoken like a true DRZ owner! Sorry I was geeking out on your build thread.

Yeah I loved Craftsman's return policy, but with the local Sears closing, and quality dropping way off since they sold the brand, it's time to go elsewhere.

I meant it as it was a fairly widespread saying.
I'm still pissed about the bike. It's been months and it's still a sore subject. I had it almost perfect.
Bout to hit the door running.
