Been ready to pull the trigger on an aluminum DCU....My plan is to mount swing arms on bumper for Roto Paks, Spare, ect...Really leaning towards barn doors, but trying to find a reason not to go that route...Most all caps/toppers have tail & lift gates......Anyone have experience on both?....Thanks

Ive been wondering the same thing.... What height did/are you going for?
Im looking at the 23''-36'' wedge for tons of room inside :)

I'm torn on the height...as much as I would like the room inside, I really don't want the cap/topper to be above the cab....The wedge is a good consideration, but my intention is to get an aluminum rack for the roof of the cap, to extend somewhat over the cab, as I want to put two 100 w solar panels, along with perimeter lights & camera's. (getting off topic here) Not comfortable at all, being inside the cap with no access to the cab....With 4 camera's and a video screen inside the cap, I'll be able to see anyone lurking outside... Can't be too careful these days....

    I hear you for sure.

Ive slept in the back of mine for 3 years with a slightly taller than cab high canopy and really want more room. Its fine, but youre definitely not forgetting that youre sleeping in the back of a pickup truck, hard sell for the Mrs, and would love to have similar feeling to my friends who sleep beside me in their SUV's... head room

There are smaller wedges that might be a better fit for you.. Could always get one with a rack that's just the canopy and put a nice Basket type rack on top of the cab, what ill likely end up doing.

Going to pull the trigger on the wedge tomorrow or next week, should be 4-6 weeks until its on, ill post pics once I get it on! Stoked to see where you go with yours!

Gotta keep it in perspective...with the primary rule of weight, as I have a 4 cyl. a/t 4x4 access cab...1000 lbs or less, overall weight including modified rear bumper, w/swing out arms, full undercarriage skid plates (alum) & interior of topper... bed, counter, fridge, cooktop...TV, solar electronics, ect....Perspective being, I'm only going to be back there getting ready for the night & sleeping, morning & evening meals in inclimate weather....When back there I want it all, but not intending to be back there hanging out.....so sitting & laying down...even with the wedge standing is not really an option...Obviously the Tacoma has its limitations, but I knew this going in....
