I decided to build in Leavenworth bc it is cool little Bavarian town in the middle of the Cascade mountains located about 2 hrs from my house.

I want to get away w the wife and kids, escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and the suburb life. Keep my sanity.

It's a must visit area with 4 seasons. It's a huge holiday town and is probably best known for Oktoberfest. You can can also fish, ski/snowboard, bike, hike, snow mobile, float the river etc.

It should be a great investment and a place the family can enjoy for many yrs.

Mine was listed for sale as a cabin. But I do have to admit it does have indoor plumbing & central air.

My cabin is a 2hrs drive from my home in Baltimore. Nestled on 16 secluded & unrestricted acres on a mountain in WV. Im the only residence on my road. Great for weekend getaways. River is just a short ATV or truck ride down the mountain for fishing, kayaking & tubing. When I was looking to purchase a cabin I didn't want to be more than a 2.5 hour drive from my home because I knew I would be using it just about every weekend.

Thanks. When I was looking for a cabin I didn't want grass. I have to mow at home so I didn't want to have to mow there too. Rather spend my time up there having fun.

Blessed to live along the Manistee River in northern Michigan about 11 miles northwest of Grayling, the nearest town.

Your mornings must be a complete write-off. I know I would waste hours away, coffee in hand, sitting in front of that window, or out on that deck, appreciating that view.

Honestly, the view never does get old and I really do feel blessed. Thank you for the kind comment.

My yard art Studebaker up at my cabin is coming along. I bought a used set of bias ply www's for cheap and mounted'em. I'm gonna wait til Spring before I paint the lettering on the doors.

More a vacation house, my in-laws place in the Northeast Kingdom of VT. We’re quickly outgrowing it, and it’s 4.5 hrs away no matter what.F3306B73-10C7-4918-B606-09615C4A011E.jpg
Edit: this is a painting of the place, apparently I’m too busy doing chores to take pictures of the house ‘cause, you know, son-in-law.

Not so much a cabin, but my second home (where I'm originally from) sits up against 43,000 acres of state land with more surrounding it.
This was my primary home until I moved my permanent residence 900 miles away.
I'll be back there next week.

We're building a carriage house or garage house or whatever you want to call it. It has a 35 foot pull through RV bay on one side and 500 sf apartment on the other side. We're on 3 acres in north-central Washington state with 6000 acres of state land at our property line. It's our home away from our home in the city. Trusses went on today!

Oh man, great thread. I have been looking for a cabin and land for the past year. I have been triangulating Lake Lure, Asheville and Black Mountain. My wife and I have taken the Taco up and just wandered around. I also look at Zillow about every night.....

The main issue is that my wife also wants a beach house or condo down around Murrells Inlet or Wilmington. So, we just look and dream......

A cabin in the mountains is usually alot cheaper than a beach house. I wanted seclusion, trails, shooting range and did I mention seclusion...

This is up in Plain, north of Leavenworth but an old HS friend of mine built a container house/cabin up there for the ski season.
