I changed the air freshener to a new one, one time.
So I’ve been reading through post after post and trying to wrap my head around tire sizes but the time has come to ask everyone for a bit of help.. I have an ‘01 Tacoma ext cab with about 2.75” of loft all around. I’m looking at getting some new wheels and tires:

    Wheels: Mickey Thompson Classic III
    - 15” wheel
    - 8” width
    - 3.625 bs

    Tires: Cooper stt pro
    - 33x12.5x15

Now I’ve read that the bs on the Thompson’s is perfect for that size tire and also read that people still get frame rubbing with similar size tires. I’m looking for no frame rub and wanting to make sure these tires will tuck when wheeling. I’m aware I’ll have to do some trimming and pinch weld modifications. Just looking for some over all info of this combo will either screw me or do me for the better.

So trimming the inner fender and smashing the pinch weld and I’ll still be doing damage? What else should I look towards doing to alleviate that?

I don't think 15's are gonna clear the calipers.
And you for sure aren't going to tuck the tires on an ifs suspension in the front. I doubt the rears will tuck either.

The mickeys will clear as they aren’t stamped, one of the few that will clear. Will def need to find out how much trimming is gonna be required and what will need to be trimmed.

That bs is going to give it a pretty wide stance... mine are a 16x8 wheel with 4.00 bs and a -12 offset (3in lift) and I barely tuck the wheel. If you like to wheel and flex I wouldn't go any wider unless you want to modify the fenders.

Are you rubbing the frame at full lock at all? Yeah I may need to revise my choices here haha

    Nope.

I did a very very mild smash on the bottom of the pinch weld, and a tiny bit of grinder trimming on the very bottom of the seam and it hasn't rubbed since.

And yes I have wheeled it hard the last 2 weekends.

I'll go out and take a pic really quick for you.

I’m not really sure if I can find a 15” wheel with more backspacing and be able to clear the caliper so I might go with the wheel and a skinnier tire to clear.

I was in your boat. For months I looked at and researched wheels. I finally settled on the scs wheels and I'm glad i did! They were a little more than I wanted to spend but they fit the truck perfectly and are a really really nice quality wheel!

    Hope this helps...

Yeah man that helps! I read that the set up I originally posted will work maybe a bit of rub but people are running it so I’m hoping it works with my truck. I’ll look up the wheels you have, definitely open to options haha

    That's always an option to.

Don't rule out a 16" wheel though... it still leaves plenty of room to air down and have a good amount of sidewall left.
