Get the longer one if you're an auto.

So going back to your post; there are various radiator sizes due to the engine/transmission configurations available.

2.4, 2.7, and 3.4 engines not to mention the addition of the cooling passage on the bottom of the radiator for automatic transmissions.

The width is the same though

Got to love most parts people today.

Walk in with the part in hand most really have no clue the good ones get fast tracked to management .

Tell them what it is for they enter the numbers come back with what they say is what the computer states you need .

Compare the old with the new not even close Clerk says this is what you need.

No wonder simple jobs take several days till you round up the correct parts.

Not even including parts boxed wrong or picked wrong.

This is why I use Toyota Dallas for parts or dealerships in general. Part number and a VIN for verification and you're off and running. TOD online order prices are great. My radiator was a few hundred to replace my 14 year old rad. I go OEM 99% of the time.

Sometimes convenience is worth the extra $. I know quality is almost always worth it. It's tempting to save $ but doing so could cost you time AND $. As far as parts go, for me if it's a complicated time consuming job or a safety issue, i'll pay for OEM. If it's something minor and a fast easy fix, i'll consider other alternatives.

Like my light housing for my turn signals and DRL's. I went cheap. It definitely is a FAR less quality part than OEM, with brittle ABS plastic, but it was $50 and I got the left and right ones as opposed to the $120? (can't remember, maybe more) for just one, and they just sit there in the grill.

Did you get the truck going? I just replaced the radiator in mine, had to trim the front skid plate on each side but the radiator fit like a glove otherwise.

    Holy shit...pics?

I replaced the radiator last year in my 01 V6 Auto Prerunner with an equal length radiator. Pretty sure it was the longest one available and I didn't trim anything.

    Weird

Here's a pic of mine when I replaced my bumper

    15803247567237181885611405933728.jpg

Still a good few inches from my skid (technically less than you see since it was hanging in that pic). Take it you went with a much longer one that I didn't see?

I know there are like 3 different lengths available and have seen multiple threads on the subject, but none mentioned trimming their skid.

I don't even remember which one I got, must have been the biggest one. I got it from O'Reilly auto parts.
