    Hey all,

Thanks to this forum and others, I have diagnosed a leaking coolant bypass on my 2006 Tacoma that I will need to replace, like in this old post - (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/leaky-gasket-on-coolant-bypass-housing.417873/)

My question is, does it make sense to replace other items while I'm at it, especially given the amount of items I am likely to disassemble? Considering replacing the Thermostat/Housing/Gasket at least, but if they have no problems, maybe it is overkill.

I have seen lots of good advice here about what to add to a job to save yourself the pain in the long run... wanted to make sure I have thought of everything before I get into this repair project.

If I was taking things apart already like you’re about to I would replace it. Just as preventive maintenance.
Also for parts like that I would go with a Toyota OEM part, it’s like $25.

It’s just like when you replace a timing belt, you mind as well replace the water pump, tensioner, and guides(if they’re worn).

Nothing wrong with doing a little preventive maintenance on a engine with over 100K....
