i just swapped out my radiator, rad hoses, thermostat, and heater valve. had some hiccups with the truck starting to overheat and blowing cold air (heat on) on the first fill. burped the system nd now my truck wont overheat, heater blows hot but my lower rad hose stays cold. anyone had this problem before? couple people say its thermostat but its new and isnt overheating?

Restricted rad is possible. But if its blowing hot and it's not overheating, its fine.

Only way to be sure is a infrared thermometer to ensure the tstat housing temp is correct.

Did you run it long enough the thermostat opened??

Infrared temp guns are great .

Assuming the thermostat was installed correctly, the spring and button toward the motor with the wiggle valve at 12 o'clock (2.4, 2.7). The job of the thermostat is to keep heat IN the motor. It is more than likely normal and OK.
