Hey all - new to San Diego and had my truck for a year now. Only been to the desert a hand full of time and tomorrow I want to go off-roading somewhere, just have no idea where to go? Would love to go somewhere muddy (but I know thats prob not going to happen)

Can anyone give me some cool spots to check out? or if there's a Taco meet up tomorrow that would be awesome.

    Thanks

I've seen that road get closed as well after some heavier storms. OP, if you want somewhere muddy to go a few options would be to hit the desert around Anza-Borrego or Ocotillo Wells right after it rains there. You could also head out to Ranchita (just west of Borrego Springs and before the Montezuma Grade) after the next heavy storm.

Interested to hear where you end up. I’m hitting México this weekend and have found some really good mud there before.

I usually don’t go further south than Ensenada. I spend a lot of time in Valle de Guadalupe which is about 1.5 hr drive.

Wait until next weekend after the rain. There will tons of mud in the area past the South Bay Rod and Gun shooting range.

People actually want to find mud? o_O I've had fun offroading in mud but usually it's because mud finds me, not the other way around.

I've willingly done mudding once just to say I did. Then I spent the next 3 weeks cleaning mud off my truck. I won't willingly do that again.

yeah same here, that's how I learned that I hate mud too, lol. Did a wheeling trip in the rain with some TW buddies a few years back, was a ton of fun but we were pretty much 4 wheeling through muddy trails all day long. Aside from the sheer mess it makes, I had issues with my clutch slipping for awhile afterward because mud worked it's way in there. Eventually resolved itself. Not to mention the havoc it wreaks on bearings, pulleys, belts, etc.
