You should absolutely post pictures of what it used to look like. Would be cool to get a comparison.

I think you may be thinking of Hurricane Gap Road and not Hurricane Creek Road. Hurricane Creek Road is definitely open. I was through there today. Hurricane Creek is part of the Pisgah National Forest and Hurricane Gap is part of the Appalachian district.

I'm wanting to make a trip up there and camp over night this spring. One of my buddies said it was an awesome trail and camping spot.

Glad to hear that Hurricane Creek is still open! I was up there in March 2019 and loved it. I want to go again next year (late February, early March). Hopefully give enough notice so that we can plan a ride through some cool trails. I was alone when I went so I didn’t venture too far in. My Avatar pic was taken about an hour before I made it to the actual trail. Google Maps mislead me but I’m glad it did.

The last pic was at Old NC Hwy 105

Should definitely be open. I'm curious about the condition. Specifically the rutted, muddy part. Looking like I'll have to go see for myself! :)

I might run up there this weekend if I get a few hours free.

You should be fine camping. Only certain areas were closed to dispersed camping and that area isn't on the list.

I was planning on doing this trail up to Max patch and camping. I wanted to make it a Saturday Sunday trip. It's looking like I'm good going alone and it's open. Can anyone confirm that though?

We've had a LOT of rain recently so expect it to be slippery and I'm sure that first creek crossing will be running high.

Yeah that's a good point. It's been non stop for a few days here in Charlotte. I probably wouldn't go for a couple weeks though. Just trying to scout it out early in case it won't make sense to go.

If it ever quits raining, I'll run out there to check conditions.

How far is Hurricane Creek from Old Highway 105? We are heading out Sunday for an overnight Memorial Day trip. A bunch of guys are headed to Brown Mountain too, not sure I will make it over there.......

Ran it today! The road is in the worst shape I've seen it, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. More challenging can be fun. I *think* you could still get a stock Off Road down it, but don't hold me to it. My skids took some hard hits, but some of that was my speed and the line I chose. I didn't get in the video below, but at one point the road turned into a creek which was interesting.

Maybe a new sign at the beginning? I don't remember it last time I was there:
    20200614_124843_HDR.jpg

    First creek crossing:
    20200614_125640_HDR.jpg

Thought it was going to be a challenge, but the truck walked right up:

    The forever rutted part:
    20200614_131701.jpg

    The old bus:

Not flowers or snow, but hail:
    20200614_141428.jpg

Video, I'm no vlogger or anything, but hopefully gives you a rough idea of the road conditions:
