This guy likely has a 2019 automatic trans. Early 3-4 shift is not possible in a manual unless the driver does it of course. If you’re a 2019 at then wait patiently for the 2.0 final tune update as that should have the fix in it.

Edit - read full part of post where he said 2019 :). Yeah man just wait it out should be fixed in 2.0. Another issue is wide open throttle. Try it out you’ll experience it where the truck seems to stall for a second then resumes acceleration.

I thought I read OLE did cover those. You just flashed the version you currently had in your tank to get you closer initially.

My understanding is the two different octane tunes are to start closer to the octane you have in the tank. So if you have 87 in the tank it doesn't have to adjust all the way to 93.
Instead you'll just load the 91 tune and it only has to adjust to 93 if you're running that (like I am).

IOW you can install the 87 and it will still learn to 93, it will just take longer.

You might be right. Pulled from the 2.0 MT final blog.

Note, we have 2 versions, and octane version for regular gas, and octane version for premium fuel. No longer are the tunes "87, 91, and 93" instead, there are 2 versions, Octane Learn Regular. This covers octane ratings from 85 to 89 octane. and Octane Learn Premium. This covers octane ratings from 90 to 94 octane.
Note** you can technically run 87 or even lower on the premium file. However, you will get continual diminished performance.

This helps a lot. It must be from the MT thread, which I don't keep track of.

Yeah. I believe it’s a starting point but they will still go up and down. You just want to avoid extremes like going from 93 to 85 or it’ll run crappy for a bit until it adjusts for the huge diff

Got my Key registration key number email from Mat early this morning. Now I’m patiently waiting for 2.0 for the 2019 automatic trans. I was going to try the beta version, but I might just wait for the full 2.0.

thanks for the hard work Mat

This is something I've been wondering for a while. My Camaro (2002/LS1) runs 91 only, BUT if you need to put 87 in due to lack of 91 (common in small towns here in Kansas or in Colorado where it's 85) it will still take 87 and run. Sure it detunes itself but it will get you to the next station or city that has 91.

What I wanted to know is if when running the 91 tune if I was in a location where the station only carries 87 if I could throw in 5 gallons or whatever to get on to the next town to put 91 in without harming the truck. Performance decrease would be expected as long as it's not physically harmful to the engine. I've seen some highly tuned cars that grenaded when using 87 vs 91, is why I was curious. So that is nice to read assuming it applies here as well.

Also curious about Colorado where 85 is basically 87 at high altitudes what I would need to put in as premium can be bonkers expensive. Probably just carry a laptop with me and the dongle to flash back to 87 when out of state or on a road trip.
