Tailgate Stolen

Hi, I just got my 2020 tacoma out of the dealership. Its been a week and somehow some thieves around my neighborhood managed to steal my gate. Does someone knows if a 2016,2017,2018 or 2019 tailgate would fit a 2020 model?

That has to be some kind of record. Top of my head, no reason they wouldn't fit.

 

Been there..$2100 out of my insurance companies pocket for a new /replacement tailgate.

Yes mine came with a lock, kept it locked all the time. Idk how but they managed to steal it while I was sleeping.

Im looking at a 2018 tailgate looks the same do you all think it will fit?

 

Yes they’re all the same. Any 3rd gen tailgate will fit

 

Geez, man. I think that is a first. It sounds like they were determined to get yours. Usually, they're unlocked with nothing there to stop them from lifting it out, like a hose clamp or better.

 

From your initial post and this latest one it sounds like you might be looking at tailgates from a 3rd party, just know that there is likely a high probability it is stolen as well unless you are buying from a junk yard that has a crashed Tacoma.

 

File insurance claim get a new one. That’s what you pay insurance for.

 

I'm pretty sure his tailgate "has a lock", but it was not locked. OP has chosen some confusing verbiage throughout this post.

 

I don't support that type of business, and yes I went to some local yards around here and found out this 2018 tacoma with a crashed front end. just want to make sure It will fit I still have to paint it.
