How has no one printed a mount to slot inside the middle opening of the Pro Grill? Someone made a special mount so people could do the raptor lights but now camera mount? How can that be?

Seems like a mount could be printed to accommodate a small camera like this one:

How has this not been done yet? I was able to order a 3d printed switch panel and mount for my trailer redarc brake controller from here. I'm wondering if the ip is a member. Anyway, just thought it might be worth a ponder as it would make for a clean install.

    Thoughts?

Why not take one of those raptor lights and gut it and drill the appropriate hole to to hold accommodate that camera?

It's not like 3d printers aren't easily obtainable now.

How about modding a Raptor light to accept a camera? I think a 3D printed component would probably be very similar that snapped into place like the grille lights. Modding Raptor lights has crossed my mind when I get around to adding a front camera. If you check the front camera threads, there are a few members that have successfully mounted natika cameras just above the garnish with no errors, and they look pretty clean. -or- get yourself a 2020 Pro Grille

Hey the raptor light is my idea (see previous thread) Seems like a no brainer to me.

Don’t use those cameras. I was cheap and I bought one for my reverse camera. It’s like looking through some binoculars pointing right at the ground when I reverse now.

Haha, I didn’t notice your post when I started typing, but yeah seems like a no brainer...I may try it someday, but a front camera isn’t high on the list right now...

That camera won’t fit in the grill. It’s 23.5mm in diameter and the grill openings are 15.7mm. I actually bought the Natika version of that camera with the intent on 3D printing a mounting bracket for it like you suggested. The best place to mount it would be at the bottom of the grill in the area that has the horizontal slats but I think that would be too low and would likely be blocked by a low bull bar. You could also make something that would mount it between the ‘Y’ and the ‘O’ but there isn’t much material there. I’m thinking of something creative to do with my camera now as it won’t be going on my truck.

I think the downward angled camera works best...see the terrain directly in front of you and still get a shot of the horizon. The forward facing seems useless as you have a windshield. Doesnt help with parking or offroad

Lazily working on this exact thing myself, work takes priority but have been doing things to it. I asked a few questions about it in the 3d parts thread. Still trying to get some cad files into modeling and refining the design. Would love it if MESO made something but figured it was a small camera specific product and he was a busy man.

Cardboard concept was cheap easy concept. Need to get off my ass and finish this, haven't installed my camera yet because of this.

The problem (IMO) with the downward facing camera is it's a huge ugly nub sitting there. I was hoping with the forward facing camera to print a bracket that angled it down but allowed me to set it back enough that it wouldn't be as visible.

It’s a fine balance of downward angle, poking out too much, and not being too recessed. It will have to have a little protrusion because the wide angle lens if set back too far will cutoff the picture. But “molded” in a way that still flows and doesn’t look like an add on.
