To preface, there was a slight shudder in 2nd under acceleration and just a little bump into 5th.I bought the truck with 92k with no service history on the tranny. So after extensive reading here on the forum, big thanks to all especially gearcruncher, I decided to do a drain and fill 12 qts. And 1 tube of lubeguard total.

I probably spent way less time than these guys/girls spent doing their write ups. That being said it went smooth as silk ( besides all the pumping of fluid ). Now there is no shudder in 2nd and the shift to 5th is smooth!

Not sure if the correct fluid level was there to begin with but it is now.

I wanted to post this because I see alot of people on here questioning whether to do this for not. I have no problems so far after a short drive but will update if anything arises.

Again a big thanks to all who contributed to this forum and their research! Thank you!

You added 12 quarts to a drain and fill job? I hope you mean a full flush!

My Taco was doing the same thing, but I had around 160k. I took mine to my local Toyota dealership and had a full flush done. I've put about 8k on the new fluid and my truck shifts a lot better. It cost around $400 though.

glad this has worked out for you... for a truck with this mileage, I would pull the pan and replace the filter and gasket next time you want to change the tranny fluid. Easy job, and it would be nice to clean everything up inside the pan.
