Primary power for the lights will be coming from the battery through a relay, the switch will only be responsible for powering the relay. Based on that, could I not twist 1 and 3 together and crimp them to the same add-a-fuse?

It seems like I should be able to, as they both only require a small draw of power, so why not use the same source, but I've only been an electrician for about 11 hours now and I'm YouTube certified so I figured I would ask.

Are you trying to wire ditch light button or something?

If you are ok with the switch backlight being on all the time than yes. You could also leave #3 out completely.

Yep, the holy grail of learning how to wire it seems.

Baja Designs sends you a junk harness with their S2's and I'm trying to deprive them of the extra $30 they were trying to make off of me by modifying the provided harness myself.

I realize if I want the switch to dim I need to tap into a circuit that dims. I'm not too concerned about that though, so I figure as long as I have enough power to the switch to activate the relay, I should be good.

Thanks! I think I am, during the day I won't notice, at night the rest of the lights are on anyways and I don't think I run them dimmed either way.

I just watched the caliraised video on it and they twist 2+3 together, not 1+3. I'm presuming the difference there is that you still need something to power the switch (1) but now it will only light up when the switch is in the on position?

Yes the light will only be on when the switch is on if you connect 2+3.

    That makes way more sense. Add-a-fuse > 1, 2+3 > relay, 4 > ground.

Battery > Inline Fuse > Relay > Lights > Ground

I think I can do this. I'll post back with pictures of my truck after it's burned to the ground.

Could also do the fuse tap to one that is only on when the accessories are on. That way you don’t leave it on by accident when the truck is off and the switch light would only light up when the truck is on... I wired mine to the sunroof fuse which is constant, but I didn’t want the bright backlight of the switch on all of the time
