To be fair, you're in Saskatchewan, if it's anything like Alberta, and I know it is, salt is used pretty sparingly due to the extreme cold most of the time.

You are correct there....we use even less then AB. Still, brines (Mg and Ca chloride) are common on main roads
Those compounds are much worse than rock salt

Which dealership will you end up going to? I got my letters lastl week and will try to get this done in the next few months as my truck doesn't get driven much in the winter. Thanks!

I'm going through Gateway Toyota, they seem to know exactly what needs to be done, and how to do it. I have a friend that has his truck there this weekend, and he'll get it back on Tuesday. He said the process was great so far.

Thanks. Not sure which dealerships you chose not to go to but should I call Mayfield or Sherwood Toyota?

I tried Northwest and Sherwood Park. I didn't find either one satisfactory, although maybe they were still trying to get there ducks in a row, I'm not sure.

Keep in mind,if you choose not too have Toyota do the coating, they will NOT give you a new frame latter, you will be on your own.

Does anyone know what toyota is spraying our frames with? I know undercoating will accelerate rust issues and the frame paint/epoxies help to slow rust. Does anyone have pictures after having this done to their truck? did they overspray everything? the letter i got says they will need my truck for 3 days, so it doesn't sound like the are pulling the bed/cab to coat the frame.

Actually, that is incorrect. You have to get the inspection and coating to be eligible for a new frame if it fails an inspection at a later date - within 12 years of the first in service date. If you do not get your frame inspected and coated, you could be SOL down the road.

i also received a frame inspection notice for my 2015 tacoma which i bought used. i live in nys. i called toyota because the notice had the date of first use almost a year before i bought the truck. they said the date the truck is registered for the very first time is the date of first use..not the date i bought the truck. in case anyone else has the same question.

I’m in the same boat truck is mint underneath. I’ve had bad luck with dealers so I usually try to do work myself so I can’t decide if I should get it done and have the warranty or skip it since I don’t plan on driving it in the salt. Does anybody know if they have to remove the bed or anything major?

How often do you re-apply the fluid film? Also during reapplication do you spray inside the boxed portion of the frame every time or every other?

I live in Iowa where they use a myriad of junk on the roads and toyota doesn't consider this the frame replacement area, not for 2015's yet anyways.

No bed removal. Just put the truck up on a lift.

i tried fluid film after reading how effective it is. will not use it again. coated my plow trucks frame w ff 3 years ago. within 2 months it was dry and cracking. reapplication frequently is a must if you use it. i concocted a homemade batch of ff w recipe i found online. put in a big sprayer and coated the crap out of all my trucks. lasted longer than ff but i still revert back to ospho and por-15. lasts forever.

I just picked up a 2015 Access cab 4x4 4cyl only has 16k on it body looks brand new and runs like new , one owner but unfortunately did not do much to take care of the under side , its not terrible but needs attention has corrosion . I plan on pressure washing and Por-15 the complete underside then some kind rubberized coating on the essential areas .
I feel its totally Savable .
I'm in NJ/Pa area , we lucked out this year but that salt really destroys these trucks if you don't take care and extra precaution they turn rust buckets , really sucks for a couple extra bucks Toyota could have put a better coating .
I have a new land Cruiser and I have to go over Toyota's work and re-coat the frame and body on the underside , I try and not drive the LC in the salt if I can help it .
