I have a question. I dinged my tailgate pretty good and I'm looking to get a used replacement. Mine is a 2012 with a camera. If I get one without a camera, can I just swap my camera out and put it in the other gate? I assume it's all the same but thought I'd ask.

    Thanks in advance!

Good luck. I let my daughter and her husband borrow my truck and trailer about 9 years ago to move some furniture. They left the gate down while towing and when he backed up dented the top of my tailgate on the trailer. It isn't bad. But at the time the truck was still new enough that I was debating replacing the tailgate or just leaving it. Repairing wasn't feasible.

Since my truck is white I figured it would just find a used white tailgate and swap. I looked for months with no luck. Most were way more than I was willing to pay. I found a couple at decent prices but the wrong color and the cost of getting them painted was more than I'd pay. I just learned to live with it. Now that the truck is 13 years old it is a prized character mark.

Yep, swap your handle and harness into the new tailgate.

If I dinged my Dad's truck, I'd pay to fix it.

    Just sayin.

With the OP's post count of 3, he immediately logged out after starting this thread, and 4 years since his previous post, it's not likely that he's coming back. If he should revisit this thread some time in the next 4 years, it would be good if he were to be aware that '05,'06,to '0something, tailgates don't have a hole in the bottom for the wires.
