I was replacing my abs fuses in my truck in Hope's of fixing another issue though I now think I have that issue solved and accidentally pulled my AM2 fuse, realizing I pulled the wrong one I put it back but now when I turn on my truck the BRAKE(!) light comes on and wont shut off, any ideas? I tested the fuse and it still works. Also my truck isnt starting up like normal and now sometimes takes 2 key turns to start up.

Lol so I checked brake fluid and parking brake first thing and everything is good so that's what's puzzling me. Also disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and reattached it still wont clear, about to check if any codes pop

    Anything to reduce fuel economy
Possibly something with ABS. Try hooking up a scanner if the truck isn't running right.

Update: checked the truck for codes and had 1 pop though I dont think it's related but it was P0012 intake camshaft position timing- over retarted (bank 1), good to know anyways. I topped off brake fluid and truck runs fine but I still have the light on my dash.

If it helps I also have abs and traction control lights on but they've been on and that's the problem I've been working on

Okay followed the instructions but didnt work to clear the codes, the codes I did get though were 6 1 1 4. Not sure the order i might do it again to figure that out. I did happen to notice though that my brake lights are on even when the trucks off so I disconnected the brake switch cable so I dont drain the battery.

You need to start with what you know is wrong. Fix the brake switch first. I do know that with a blown stop fuse, the lights on the dash will light up. In other words, if the ABS detects hydraulic pressure, but no input from the brake switch, it will trigger the dash lights. I would imagine that it might go the other way too. Brake switch input with no hydraulic pressure.

Okay first I'd like to thank everyone so far for their help and then apologies for my stupidity, it seems I put the 30amp abs fuse in the wrong spot and after correcting it my BRAKE(!) light shut off. I still have abs and traction control lights on even after replacing the brake light switch and my brake lights are still on when the vehicle is shut off but one issue has been resolved due to operator error on my part.

OK LOL Didn’t see that one coming. Didn’t know there was an empty spot for that big ass fuse.

As for the brake lights on, I’m pretty sure that only a misadjusted or shorted brake switch could cause that.

If that’s the dumbest thing you’ve done in awhile, I’d say you’re doing pretty good. No people or property were harmed and you didn’t go to jail.

So, was the always on brake switch causing the traction control and ABS lights to light?

I'm thinking so because after I installed the new brake switch I tapped the brake and the lights on my dash shut off and everything worked just fine and so far it's still working
