I put Lamin-X covers on mine. Did not dim them at all. $20. 52BAB23C-F3E7-49C1-AA63-B5E52CE3C499.jpg

i have the same setup and love them. They are right on the cusp of being as bright as I am comfortable having them on facing traffic. I think the amber helps. I’ve swapped cars with my wife at night and sitting in her minivan, they are noticeably bright but tolerable.

Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the amber/yellow?

We may want to remember that yellow, amber and selective yellow are actually all distinctly different colors and have very different properties, advantages and disadvantages. If you just want "yellow colored" light - mostly because it looks cool, then you can tint your bulbs or lenses with any number of products, but you'll generally lose quite a bit of light output. But you'll still look cool.

True selective yellow is a significant advantage in inclement weather. (Plain old "yellow" or "amber" is not.) There are various means of attaining this color, but "home remedies" are not effective or recommended here. The best selective yellow lighting from Diode Dynamics, Rigid and Baja Designs doesn't come cheap, but you get what you pay for because their products were designed from the ground up with proper color temperature and performance in mind.

If you want a pretty good read on the subject, try this:

Personally I prefer the yellow or amber. At night in the rain or snow it makes the lines on the road as well as anything on the roadway much more visible. These tend to wash out in all white light under those conditions.

It cuts through the snow, fog and rain better. Doesn’t reflect back at you essentially.
Believe it or not, it’s also less strain on your eyes. I really didn’t know that going into it. But when doing long late night drives through the desert. I noticed stayed more alert and focused. It’s hard to believe that I know but my wife also noticed the same thing when driving my truck at night.

I did the laminix covers too- looks nice. I only use my fogs once in a great while so the covers made more sense than a $200 set of morimotos or Baja designs. Don’t dim the stock fogs at all as far as I can tell. Very happy with the laminix covers.

ps- I really hate autocorrect. Posting from my phone and it made fogs “dogs” and morimotos “moron pros”. Edit complete.

Please if you are going to install different light PLEASE make sure they are street legal. Many company's sell "fog" lights that are blinding to oncoming traffic.

I saw several people in this thread post up lights that are absolutely horrible to be used as a fog. Fogs should not be lighting up the road ahead like a auxiliary light.

True true! The Baja Design lights I was bragging about can blind oncoming traffic. I try to be as considerate as I can and turn em off when needed

I run KC G4’s that I wrapped with LaminX. They’re much better than the Morimoto housings I had before. I probably would have got the DD SS3’s if they were out at the time though. D17EE868-AC08-4F81-873C-2B20F272C07D.jpg

Definitely hard to argue with this combo! Expect I’d go a little more spendy and go squadron pro. Either way, top notch set up

I have the G4's as well. If the DD's were available, I'd have bought them instead.

Street legal is one thing. Poorly aimed is a whole other thing (common prob). Even the most street legal lights aimed too high will blind oncoming traffic.

Agreed, but I think the original point was that non SAE fogs - even properly aimed - will dazzle oncoming drivers. Unfortunately, and as you point out, far too many people have absolutely no clue about proper aiming.
