I don’t see any problem with that at all. Just know it’s a good distance to hike.

Gonna head up to Centralia in 2 weeks, never was there but read the history about it and watched a show about it. The abandoned turnpike is on my list for this spring also

Went for a walk in the woods today and we came across a very old foundation of what looked like it may have been a center chimney home. About 500 feet further behind the foundation we came across this structure that looked as if it were built into the hillside. Picture doesn't quite do it justice, it's all relatively precise with the side walls or what's left of them coming out perfectly parallel to the back wall. Intriguing, literally can't figure out what it may have been??

    Nature made OK?

Here’s a chewed up dead tree, I’m thinking Moose rubbing antlers due to the height..

I see that on a tree by my house. It's higher than a moose could reach. I always thought it was from Palliated Woodpeckers.

it was pretty common for folks to build into hillsides - less walls to frame out of wood and being "underground" provided insulation for the winters.
out here its not unusual to run into the ruins of a homesteaders cabin with a grass roof. If you approach from the uphill side you wouldn't even know the cabin was under there.

    Huh.

Theres a bunch of healthy trees in the area with their barked stripped off that seem to be not pecked by woodpeckers. All about the height of the tree in the picture or a bit lower. I’ve assumed this was caused by either Deer or Moose shedding the velvet. I’ve seen some of the this but don’t have any pics. I’ll get some next fall.

I’ve seen trees that were obviously pecked but most of those had the damage all around the tree.

I’m no expert but will be more observant in the future.
