Yup, its OBD II. Have you checked the OBD II fuse?

    Hello,
First, thank you for your response. I have not checked the fuse yet, but it seems odd that I would be able to get power to the ODB II device. I mean, I am seeing the screen on the Ancel, and it also be a fuse issue. Are they separate?
    Thanks
    DougR

Hmm, I don't believe it would get power without the fuse. Does the reader give any kind of error message?

It just says that is doesn't link to it. I'm thinking that some of the contacts might be bad on the female connector in the truck. It is a 2001

I will take a stab at cleaning the contacts. It's worth a shot and then try again.
Hey, Thanks for all your help. I will let you know how it turns out.
    Cheers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the issue is with the scanner... try it on another vehicle.

Get your money back!! Sold to you under false pretenses Says supports OBD II!!

If it does not work on your Truck it will not work on any OBD II system.

I Have 4 of the Actron code readers 3 live in the vehicles one in the shop no problems for years.

Just a dirty vehicle side plug now and then.

All Tacomas are OBD-II. It's pretty odd that a generic OBD-II scanner wouldn't be able to connect with a 2001 Tacoma.

I gotta buy one of these just so I can find out why they market a tool for OBDII systems then say it does not support the OBDII system

Only $35.00 I gotta order one.

Check the scan tool with another vehicle to rule out a scan tool issue. I use a ELM372 on my 2018 with no issues.

Since all the restaurants are closed The $35.00 would be from not needing to give tips
