    Hey All,
New Tacoma owner, new member. Who knew there was a whole website for this truck. So I was driving a 1999 Dodge Dakota so a vehicle with sensors and all different light settings is new to me. I just picked the truck up yesterday and drove it for the first time at night last night. I live in a rural area and the high beams were spectacular. No more milky light lens. When I flipped to just headlights, the road seemed to practically disappear.. They did not seem to project out and there was a clear delineation of where the light beam ended. There was marked improvement when I turned on the fog lights. Do I need to run with the fog lights on all the time? Is there something I'm missing or something wrong? I didn't go far last night so have yet to drive in a situation where there are other vehicles on the road and high beams are not really an option. It just seemed like if there were enough other vehicles around where the HBs were not applicable, that there would not be adequate lighting on just the headlight setting. So what is the proper use of the different settings? Thanks and drive safe.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty low tech when it comes to most things so not up on a lot of new stuff. When you say you run HIDs in the lows, is that that the stock lighting? The Morimoto XB LEDs are something you swapped in? At the moment, I don't know exactly what I am equipped with. I'll run with the fog lights on for now until I get learned on some of these things. I had just never seen such a decreased projection when switching to lows, very insufficient. Wife drives a 2015 Rav and all great there. Thanks for the link, I'll read up and find out what is on my truck. If you think of any other tips, thanks.
BTW, I wanted an OR Quicksand and settled on the Sport only because I could not find a 4dr, LB with low miles close enough. I had a company vehicle and I was laid off had to pull the trigger as I ran out of time. Not crazy about that thing on the hood.

There is also a hood swapping and trade thread in the BST forum for third gens. Its for people looking to swap hoods.

The stock low beam is not great. Check out the thread to see what people are running and what you want to go with. HIDs are a bit more involved since you have to run a ballast and igniters but they have phenomenal output.

The XB LEDs are nice but others run the Diode Dynamics SAE foglights with good success as well.

Do some digging in that thread I linked and ask questions if you'd like.
