Just got my head lift stand in yesterday. Now if the weather could cooperate with me I can pull the bike out and drop the forks.

Sounds like the Vermont titling process would have been easier.

Good luck. My cables still haven't arrived and my brake line is still sitting in Miami pending acceptance (since the 12th). I'd blame the bug, but USPS out of Miami has always run suuuuuperrrrr slooooooowwww.

On the plus(?) side, we are shutting down all of our plasma collection centers for at least two weeks, so aside from some administrative stuff here and there my workload just got a lot lighter...

    Copied from the DMV website:

A record request search is initiated by entering the vehicle identification number (VIN) and paying a $25.00 Abandoned Vehicle Process (AVP) fee. If the results of the record search indicate the vehicle is titled in Virginia, DMV sends a certified letter to the owners/lienholders requesting removal of the vehicle within 15 days. If the vehicle is titled in another state, you must contact the other state to request the owner/lienholder names in order to send a certified letter to them (return receipt requested) requesting removal of the vehicle within 15 days.

If the owners/lienholders of the abandoned vehicle do not respond to the request to remove the vehicle in the time allowed, you return to DMV's website to post your intent to auction the vehicle. The intent to auction posting remains active for 21 days. After the posting period ends, you are eligible to title the vehicle, sell it, or transfer it to a demolisher or scrap metal processor. If no record was found for the vehicle during the record request search, you may choose to transfer the vehicle to a demolisher or scrap metal processor without posting intent to auction, but if you choose to title the vehicle, you must post your intent to auction and wait 21 days.

So now I will wait 21 days. Its 21 days that I dont have to spend any on this bike, and im lucky that I have another fully functioning bike to ride. If it was my only bike, maybe Id be more anxious on getting it done.

I think I had sold my Suzuki C50 about 3 or 4 months before the CB750 fell into my lap. Not to mention the VT process was the only way to register a bike in Florida without an existing title. Speaking of, I need to reach out to the DMV and sort out how to get an "antique" plate for the bike. I just wish FL did motorcycle antiques like they do cars. With cars you can bring in an old plate the same year as the car and they will reissue it on a new registration. My dad had a 1964 Florida plate on his '64 Nova.

And FedEx just dropped off my cables. Now if only USPS would get the ball rolling on the brake line...

At least the brake line I have now fits, but just barely, so worst case i can start doing the engine break in while waiting for the new one.

So to pay my loan back for the bike online through Harley financing, I have to pay a $2.75 fee. How fucking stupid... guess I'm mailing a check every month.

edit: looks like if I setup recurring payments to withdraw straight from my checking account there's no fee

riding jeans with pads, esp the kind with the protective kevlar inserts in the high risk areas, tend to be warm. There isnt much getting around that. I think there are some that are mesh in the lower risk areas, but I would be concerned about structural integrity in a crash on the street. ive got uglybros jeans with knee pads, hip pads, and kevlar inserts and i love them. I feel well protected. They are warm though for high summer riding, its not bad while I am moving though, mostly the heat sets in while I am stopped idling. But would I ride without them? nope. its that easy for me.

All you guys in here buying your protective gear after your bike feels counter intuitive to me. I bought all my gear before I bought the moto. I knew I would want to ride it and I knew if I didnt have all the gear I would make excused and ride without or not ride at all. YMMV.

I had my helmet and jacket before I got the bike. Getting "riding" pants wasn't that high up on my list. I'll get em eventually, but regular jeans are fine in the meantime. I'm not not riding my bike because I don't have every piece of gear.

I didn't see the recurring payment option at first, so I went to go pay and it said there was a $2.75 fee. I'm like uhhh no. I'll mail my first payment in with a check and I have auto-payments setup starting next month for no fee.
