Massage therapist working in walnut creek, spa was closed down til the 8th but I'm gonna try supplementing my income with my own personal clientele where I can. Also filed for unemployment. The wife is a medical assistant at a surgery center but most of the surgeries they do is elective so they might close down as well. Just a waiting game now for the next 3 weeks.

We should organize a bay area TW camping trip/social distancing/members only quarantine o_O:stirthepot::mudding:

I’ll be on a tight budget staycation..but nothing is open and we can’t be out and about so at least I won’t be spendin. so it’s garage time with the Tacoma !

People are just starting to lose hours and the economic impacts are just starting to be discussed. Mnuchin is now saying 20% unemployment, who knows how bad it could get. At least a 2008 type event it seems, but the markets were hit faster this time. Living beneath your means just began to seem a lot more sensible in preparation. Fortunately with my job I can telecommute, but overall this does halt a lot of new projects for us.

It is a little nuts here now. I would be surprised if our "lockdown" is only till the 27th, thinking much longer. I have more conference calls tomorrow. Been self quarantined since Friday (13th). Except for scheduled times today to retrieve items from our building for 20 minutes today.

Wore my mask and gloves the whole time. Not exactly as much fun as Fallout 4.

I keep finishing projects here at home and trying to keep myself amused with TV and memes.

This may sound like an odd thing on our truck forum....but typing this is making me feel better.
    Thanks
    Stay Safe

Wow, sorry just realized this was CA subforum. I saw it in recent activity and read through it. Either way, sympathy and love from the other coast.

Curious what you all have been doing this week and hope that all of you and your families are healthy and happy.

I happened to schedule a staycation this week and decided to knock out a tedious to-do on my truck. Bought some Noico sound deadener and slapped some on my roof, rear cab panel, and a smidge of the rear floor from the scraps. I should have done the roof first because of how f*cking exhausting it is to roll that crap upside down with considerable pressure. Didn't have the cleanest cuts or measures (I was enjoying many adult beverages), but it's a huge difference. Unfortunately my test drive has to wait until tomorrow so I can sober up :D. The whole thing took about 4 casual hours and I'm sure my arms will hate me tomorrow.

Also, our youngest rescue pup had her 2nd adoptaversary today, so I took her and my Catahoula to Yellow River Park for about 4.5 miles of hiking. Only saw a half dozen people. Definitely nice to have some distancing.

I'm sleeping well tonight, gents. Anyone of you finding truck or solo time in this bizarre time?

Tying flies, walking through the woods with the boy, finding deer bones, fishing with the flies I tied earlier. Drinking growler Irish ale with my neighbors in our back yards. Working from the house in my spare time LOL. Just another week.

I've been staying in and organizing my PC folders, cleaning, walking my dog with the limited activity that I can currently do. Might go for an early spring hike in the next couple days. It's no different than any other month for me though because up until two weeks ago I was on medical leave for over a year.

I understand your frustration. I say that as "management" at a mfg plant.

If it adds any value, my company (all I can speak for) has been giving a metric assload of guidance on how to protect the floor workers, how to screen at the doors, etc. We have been reviewing and doubling down on cleanliness and sterilization with the janitorial staff, and been figuring out how to address peoples paychecks if they are to have to take an absence. Most of this is happening very fast and new guidance is coming out almost hourly. In the mean time, it is taking us a minute to get things solid enough to figure out how to communicate all of this to our workers on the floor. The slide deck we are showing tomorrow is a week and a half behind the curve, and a similar perception of inaction and frustration has been voiced to me by several employees despite us taking drastic efforts for several weeks now, that may just not be visible to the average person.

Trust me, as much as I would love to send everyone home and wait this out, if we did that, there wouldn't be a plant and a job to come back to. So in the mean time, we separate as many people as can be separated, and try to do the best we can. Unfortunately, that mostly means us management "carpet people".

I hope you and yours stay safe and healthy, and we'll put all this behind us as soon as we all can. Cheers.

If anyone has a kindle, and wants a good book VVV I couldn't put it down. Read the whole thing in an afternoon.

Graeme and his family spent a couple of years overlanding all over South America after shipping their Landy over from South Africa. I know, I know, the O word, but this dude is the real deal.
