Always at the worst possible time too; the middle of a complicated glue-up that didn't quite work like it had during the dry test!

Agreed. I've been purchasing a sent of clamps of different style whenever I make a necessary purchase at my usually supply stores. My collection is growing. My latest was a set of 36" bar clamps from Rockler. They're on sale if need some.

Isn't that the truth . Everything goes great on the dry run , add glue and a little bit of time sensitivity and the damn thing refuses to go back together again

It could be the glue. For instance, if you are glue tight dovetails together you should use hide glue. It will act as a lubricant. CVA is water based and can swell the wood. That's what I've read anyway.

I've definitely had my fair share of pieces slipping and sliding while applying clamps!
Hide glue is pretty awesome. It's flexible, you can re-glue broken joints that have been glued with it previously, you can steam it to make it release. I think its only drawback is that it lacks some of the strength that other glues like Titebond have. But yeah, perfect for dovetails!

So, I just posted up on FB- offering to make pine shavings for people who can't get pet litter. It's pretty easy to plane down pine, and it won't really eat up your blades. I'm not telling anyone to do it, just something to think about if you've got furry ones at home and you're out.

Given the current situation, I'm trying to pay it forward as much as I can.

Being the worry wart that I am- I bought an extra week's worth last week. This whole "are we going to mandatory quarantine or not" sucks. I'm good on food/water for myself. But my mom is stuck at home with pneumonia, so I'm pretty sketched out on the whole thing.

Been busy lately. Wife saved a fairly nice solid cedar door from a scrap pile. Polyurethane was wrecked from sun exposure, but a few days of sanding, staining, and multiple coats of urethane brought it back to life.

This past month, we decided to rebuild our front columns in stained cedar, and built our own shutters from more of the same. Hardly looks like the same old nice, lot more curb appeal now.

Anyone else thinking about "stockpiling" some extra materials for when we get locked down? Figure it'll keep me busy/sane if I could spend a lot of that time in the shop doing something useful. I'm going in to work today since I still can so I wont make the lumber store before they close. I hope they are still open monday!

Looks great! Nice job! If you really want to make the view of the front pop then edge the grass off the front walkway. You will be amazed at how much neater that will make everything look.
