Our college has pushed to reduce the cost to students for textbooks. We encourage our faculty to use as much open source material as possible. We also got rid of our brick and mortar book store - students can buy their books online through our system or anywhere they want to buy them. We don't make money off them.

I don't tell my students this - not what a college president should say - but when I was a student in the National War College as a senior Army officer or seminar motto was "It's only a lot of reading if you do it!" Thank god there weren't dorm cameras back when I was in college like we have now!!

I could hunker down if it was not for my neighbor and his mid life crisis taking down so many trees the water table dropped I now have so much Iron my water looks like rust. A whole house filter lasts about 10 days .

My water was really good till then

 

I'm a DINK and my girlfriend isn't a citizen and draws no benefits but pays taxes.. talk about paying for other people.

This is not a fucking joke anymore.

 

Been home since Monday. Working remotely. What's it going to take fir people to take it seriously?!?

 

Just got an email at work that we are exempt from shelter in place orders, which is fine by me. I guess that's a plus being maintenance in a delivery hub. Don't want to be cooped up in my own house anyways. We also have a new role to restock the soap, sanitizer, etc since there's no cleaning staff during graveyard shift. Still, fine by me, easy shit to do, lol.

 

I take all of 'this' seriously, but stating things like 'this could go on for 18 months is just plain irresponsible damn it!!! ( cable news ) Let's not shut the whole country and economy down. If South Korea is getting back to business, it is not the end of the world. I think most of us on here know to stop buying bread, toilet paper and ammunition like it is the end of the world. C'mon people, our attitude about this situation is half the battle.

 

I really wish I could I have no problem though a Fresh Roadkill would help.

I guess things are quite different in the denser population areas .

 

We produce food for about 1.5million people per day atm, and orders are higher than pretty much ever. Some of us have to work.
