Baked on mud

Would like to know what I can use to clean off the baked on dirt? More specifically on the engines general hoses and rubber components. The engine has been hosed off sprayed down with numerous engine cleaners. Nothing seems to get the stains off the hoses..

Microfiber towels work great for me. In combo with a general cleaner like Windex seems to help. Not sure how 'baked on' you're talking though..

 

Get in there with brushes and scrub. You may have to use some type of black trim restoration product. I just don’t look, opening the hood only when necessary.

 

You try applying any mechanical action (i.e. scrubbing with a brush, etc.) after you sprayed them down with the cleaner? For stubborn dirt/mud stains I've always used Simple Green with a tooth brush on my MX bikes with great results.

 

1. Hit the affected areas with the hose to soak them

2. Buy your choice of APC (All Purpose Cleaner) IE Purple Power Cleaner, Meguiars D10101, Chemical Guys Clean+

3. Spray the area with the APC, then agitate with a scrub brush and elbow grease

4. Rinse again with hose

5. Dry with compressed air or old rag

6. Dress with tire shine, rubber shine, or silicone spray (If you want)

 

The chemical guys Clean+ will handle pretty much anything in an engine bay.
