    Help... 2013 Tacoma.

I have the little red button that keeps flashing. Doesn't seem to make a difference when I push it.

When I first start my truck, the red button on the dash flashes and the blinker clicking noise goes off. And when I get out of my truck the alarm goes off.

I highly recommend posting a picture of the alarm's remote control whenever asking for help with an alarm otherwise it's near impossible to help. There are far too many different alarms available out there to diagnose without knowing at least the brand of the alarm.

A lot of car alarms out there program their remote controls by using the ignition key switch, the door switch, valet and/or programming switch, etc. Certain things need to happen within a certain amount of time and it all varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and sometimes it even varies model to model of the alarm itself.

If the alarm in question is programmable for the remote control and if the vehicles battery has been disconnected for a long period of time the alarms remote control(s) will need to be reprogrammed to the alarm control unit.

If an alarm sounds off when a door is shut it usually, but not always, means the alarms main input power has been lost (ie: blown fuse). Power backfeeds through the alarms door input circuit and powers up the alarm and whenever a alarm is first powered up they always sound off.

The first thing I would check is the alarms constant 12 volt input as I think it has lost its power.

AFTER the situation with the alarm sounding off when the door is shut is fixed you'll probably need to program the remote control but verify that it is required before trying to program it (push the remotes button before entering programming mode).

All car alarms sound off when they are first powered up (doesn't matter if it's the first power up or if it's being powered up after a loss of power). To avoid this situation you can turn the ignition key on first before installing the alarms main power fuse and the alarm will not sound off.

IF the alarms main power input did in fact lose its power be very careful where you leave your keys and the alarm's remote control as the alarm may have lost all of its programming features and the alarm might automatically set itself and automatically lock the doors.

Oh I forgot, the alarm control unit in my truck is at the bottom of the driver's kick panel behind the plastic. The control unit is about 4" long, about 3" wide, and about 1" thick. 99% of the time the alarms control unit is on the driver's side under the dash (directly above your feet when sitting in the driver's seat) or in the driver's kick panel area. A test light will be fine to check anything on the alarms plugs.
