So I'm looking for inexpensive tires in the short term. Not a lot of wheeling off road, mostly just commuting back and forth. The tires on the truck are 245 75 R16s - hoping for something in the 120lb load index area. Anyone have any suggestions for inexpensive tires that won't separate on me in a year or two? Whatever I get I'm having Tire Discounters put on, I think, so I can get the free alignment while I'm at it.

I am looking at "Thunderer Ranger A/T" from them right now, at the $109 mark per tire, with an alignment thrown in, total of $628 with install and road hazard warranty. Thoughts? Anyone used them before? (https://www.tirediscounters.com/tire/Thunderer/Ranger_A_T/ATH10227)

It's still more than I want to pay, but they look like OK tires for handling the wet. Anyone have any other suggestions? I've never heard of "Milestar" or "Thunderer" as brands, so I'm flying blind here. My usual choice would be Cooper AT/3s, but money and all. The tires on the truck are old and the tread is way under where I want it to be, so waiting isn't an option.

Have you looked on graigs list or forums? I see people who buy new rigs selling their stock wheels for near nothing all the time

If you’re in a bad way and this is the only way to get around some people even donate tires. I had a guy local to me who lost his job and his ‘09 tires where near bald. I upgraded my tires right after getting my truck and donated my near new set to him.

Already went down that path. The only ones around me are either the same as brand new tires, or already have 50k miles on them and are in not great condition. Plus no "free alignment" if I put them on :D -- and I'm not ready to try my luck at a poor man's alignment yet. Thank you for the advice though, I appreciate it.

I was looking for a little more meat than:

So, the truth about Seafoam is that it is a fuel additive. That is the only thing that is completely true. The rest is based on opinion or untestable marketing.

But I'll stop being lazy now and go do my own research :)

I put a Detroit True Trac in my sport to replace my worn factory LSD. Great performance for on-road and 98% of the Forest Service conditions I hit. Works very well in the snow. Very predictable and consistent.

12v to 5v buck converter. They make them for all the different USB standards for about $10 a pop on Amazon, ebay, etc.
