2016 Limited BSM system issue

2016 White Tacoma Limited

My BSM system has worked great for the year+ I've owned my truck. Recently the system started to act weird. (probably started around late last year)
Turning on and off suddenly, and "check blind spot monitor system" on the dash. I would just turn it off/on again and that'd usually correct the problem. Now it is completely dead. The green indicator light on the button does not turn on/off and no orange warning display lights on the mirrors. Driving in the rain - the BSM system freaked out flashing uncontrollably, and no use turning the on/off switch to stop them from flashing.
