And will black inserts be available as stand alone accessory?

I’d be happy just for the flip key alone at this point, nevertheless what insert it has. Who knows how long it will be now with the manufacturing issues China has suffered from this pandemic. What’s a few more months after how long us MT peasants have waited?

This has not affected my production of the flip fobs. What has halted the progress was a design change. After some testing, the key was set too far back. Even though the key went in fine, it was just too short which prevented you to "push in" and turn the ignition.

The factory key is rounded at the top which sits into the ignition cup better. The Flip is squared at the top which slightly interferes. (see red line VS green line)

The fix isn't hard, but the mold has to be tweaked +2MM longer. This will allow to fit a longer key shank and work as intended

That's a pretty subtle issue however i'm glad you're chasing a fix and adjusting the production! Any estimate around when the flip fobs will hit the website?

Yes. I’ve received my final samples(after 3-4 revisions) and everything is checking out. Fits the ignition cylinder perfect. I have some samples out in the wild just for added feedback, but it’s now time to start pumping these for production. I want the flips off my plate just as bad as you guys want them on:rofl:
    Here’s a install vid I made.

So easy if you have an AJT Key already. Pull out the transponder and voila your done. Can't wait.

Yeah, if already dug your transmitter out of the stock case before, it makes it even easier. However, you will still need to go get the key cut. I went over to my local Toyota dealer and they cut it the spot, about 5 minutes.

I imagine you need to do the install and then have them cut the key. Gives them something to hold onto for the cut?

Will the 4Runner flip fob be available at the same time as the Tacoma version? :fingerscrossed:

I have a work truck SR package and am adding keyless entry probably with the ‘aftermarket’ package Toyota sells.Any chance you know if that would fit your flip case? Or if there is another aftermarket system that would fit in your fob? Thanks! Attached is a pic of what they look like, thanks again.D6F50F79-DA03-4171-89AB-D491B2C534D4.jpg

I don’t think SR even came with a keyless entry. so I would assume the key is just a key with no buttons.. which won’t work for a flip.

Awesome news! I'm stoked that you got the design resolved! Random question: does the key sit perpendicular to the edge of the fob when it's out? It looked a little cockeyed, didn't know if my mind was playing tricks on me.

Cheers! Can't wait to pick up a few.

Yes I know the key itself would still work like normal. I was more asking if I could take the guts out of the aftermarket fob (after I add the aftermarket system to my truck) and it would fit in the flip case. Sorry for any confusion!

    Meso,

My son has a 2013 Scion tC. The key case looks identical to the Flipfob 4runner key. Do you think of any reason why it wouldn't work on his Scion?

    Thanks!

@MESO is there a particular mold the dealership needs to cut the key to fit the fold-out fob for MTs? Is it as simple as saying “Hey I need another key cut, but not in plastic, just stand alone” ?

With that complete, we just need the transponder taken from the existing keyfob, and we’re set? Thanks for the help and hard work on this. It looks great!
