What is a cheap lift, wheels, and tires combo?

Hello Everyone! I own a 2013 tacoma, and the 265/70R16 wheels don’t give the truck the aggressive look I want. Anyone know a “cheap” lift kit, wheels, and tires combo?

I have an 08 prerunner. I put bilstein 5100s all around and set the fronts at .85. I then put some black 18 inch ultra crusher rims with -10 backspacing and some 265/65/18 A/T tires. I think it gives my truck a nice stance and ride. It cost me around $1700 for everything.

 

No strut spacers, they ruined my Pro-Comp Pro Runner Struts within a year LOL
Trust me, you'll avoid bad ride quality and problems down the line such as blown struts and them hockey pucks don't really look that pretty.

I have Bilstein 5100's thats giving me 2.5" up front and a 1" in the rear. Rear Blocks are budget friendly and have worked for me. Personally I think its pretty level, but don't worry about any front or rear "rake" because most of the time I park, the ground is never even enough for me to notice any "raking" at all. However, I DID notice that 2" in the rear does show a noticeable rear rake.

If you want actual 3" lift then maybe the Toytec 3" Coilover (not as budget but seems solid) or new Rough Country 3" Coilover (cheaper but idk much about it).

If you want something bigger like a 4" lift, Rn I'm actually looking into the Maxtrac 4" Spindle Lift for 2WD's. It allows for a the lift of a 2WD truck with cutting into your frame.

Budget Wheels and Tires can be found at your local Discount Tire. I see people running their stuff all the time.

Although I got 18's, I found 17" rims and tire combo's to be cheaper and have a bigger variety.

PS: Custom Offset's Gallery has been my best friend when looking for inspiration on a good setup.

Are you 4wd or 2wd?

You’ll have to decide whether you want 2.5” and below or above. You go over 2.5” and you’ll have to consider upgrading UCA’s.

4” and up lift becomes more $$$ and more complex.

Bilstein 5100, Toytec, or Eibach are popular budget friendly for 3” and below.

You can get an aggressive look just by upgrading rims and tires.

If u want cheap get rough country spacers, treadright tires and chevy wheels

 

5100s all around. Headstrong 2” coils up front and headstrong progressive AAL in the rear. Gave me around 2” up front and 1.5” in the back on my 08 AC. I’m happy with it. Cost me around $600 in parts and around $200 in labor at an independent shop.

Mb wheels are on the cheaper side. Tires are always expensive but discount was having a sale. Spacer lift up front to level it out is the cheapest route.

I probably spent 1800 to 2000 on mine, Bilstein 5100's set at 2.5. 2 inch blocks in the back. The moto metal mo970 wheels. Then 265 75 16 bfg ko2 tires. If you're just driving it on the street you're good with something like this, but it probably won't hold up if you're going to do any real off roading.

 

Suspension 2k, wheel/tires 3k. Spend a bit more to get quality parts. More than likely you'll be replacing cheap parts multiple times and end up with what you want. Don't purchase crap parts to hold you over, get the parts you want the first time and do it right.

 

Thanks for the response! Do you have these parts on your truck? I like the cost of what you sent me, I just want to make sure these parts look good and will work.

 

I don’t personally. Just did a little digging to show you wands out there. Everything should work fine. Spacer lift may ride a little rough off road. Tires are mud tires so they will have some noise but gives you a starting point.

 

I have some "New In Box" Maxtrac spindles if you're interested. 4" lift, 2WD only. Let me know.

 

If you use spacers you have to move the bump stop and if you don't you'll whine how you broke your struts because you didn't do the install right, just blame your inadequacies on spacers and you'll fit right in here.

Spacers do not harm the ride at all, limited UCA travel harms the ride.

Do a search on those billies before you spend the coin because there's hundreds of threads of people complaining of shitty ride quality. In fact there's more threads of people complaining about billies than there is complaining of spacer lifts.

 

Lots of cheap stuff out there.

Consider that an 'aggressive look' with cheap parts screams poseur.

Not to mention durability / reliability / usability that comes with cheap.

That, and other than when its parked for those Insty photos, it won't be nearly as pleasant to own.

 

Spacer lift kit and Treadwright tires.

 

I wouldnt skimp on tires since it the the only thing that gives you traction on the road. I would at least go with a well know tire brand. Then if looks are all you are going for get a small spacer lift and slightly larger more aggressive looking tires 265/75R16.

 

Search your local craigslist for wheel/tire combos. You can snag a set for a lot cheaper than buying it all new and get good quality stuff. Then you can sell your existing stuff to recoup some of the cash. I did this and got Icon Rebounds with 285/70r17 nitto terra grapplers g2 with 60-70% tread for only 1k. Then bought Headstrong 2.5 coils, headstrong 3 leaf progressive AAL and bilstein 5100s all for 650. So less than 2k and I have a solid good quality setup. And the tires I took off were BFG KO2 ATs with 70% tread so can sell those for a few hundred already mounted on wheels making my overall price close to 1k.
