Thanks john_r1. I. Was thinking of that black seal stuff. Just don't know where to get it. I think customcargrills sells it. The only place it's really jacked up is along the bottom. The top edge came out pretty straight

Yeah, they carry what you need...

"Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim XXL" is what you should probably get, and install it with a thin strip of epoxy/contact-cement in the groove.

Just don't push too hard if you put adhesive in there, or you'll push the "glue" out onto the visible surface.

I'd test fit it first (sans "glue") to see how much of a void (if any) is in the groove, after you press it on.

Looks great! I was thinking of doing something similar, too... But I just don't quite have the stones yet.

I bought it at Auto Zone. I wish I still had the can but it has a picture of the hood of a 69 Camaro IIRC with Matte Black stripes done he hood. I put light coats on and it matched perfectly.

I'll see if I can find it for you on the interwebz :)

Thanks everyone. And thanks for looking up the paint. I defintily didn't see that at my autozone. Bt now I know what it is so I'll just order some.

My wife got me a red TRD emblem for Christmas. So that's going in the lower corner.

Light coats. Take your time between coats and it will come out looking great.

After re-reading my post about the rubber trim, I should clarify...

Put it on the plastic surround, not the metal grill itself.

    ;)

    along the yellow line...

Only 6 years late... I finally have some time to do this because of the quarantine.
how did you bend the mesh to match the original insert shape?
