I feel for you OP. It takes a dbag to do this anywhere, but when a hotel parking lot is involved I can't help but think someone had too much booze, or maybe it was a rental car. Both of them would make any idjit avoid the situation.

I popped one like that on a door many years ago. Wasn’t perfect but it was barely noticeable

Might as well try this if the whole panel is getting replaced anyway. Some people have experienced dents “unpopping” themselves in the hot sun without any manipulation.

Have you looked into a paintless dent repair?? If the paints not messed up you might be able to get away with that and a steel back bumper

No PDR guy can get that even 90%. No way, too much damage. All those body lines, the heavy creasing at the top. I'd pay my deductible and get a new bed side, fix it right.

Probably doesnt help you out much, but thankfully it was in a parking lot with "relatively" lower speed. Could've been much worse. Good luck with the repairs

PDR May be able to fix it. One issue if you wait too long with doing that is it may just oil can. Hot water might might with that though. Your claiming a body shop will replace the entire quarter for only a few hundred more? My guess is they will just be spraying the bedside and not doing any blending then. The paint being metallic probably won’t match right. I would try to remove the dent before you get it painted. Odds are someone will probably hit you again anyway.

That sucks. I had a similar situation but nowhere near as bad. Someone backed into me as well. As best I can tell, it was in a Wal-Mart parking lot on a Thursday night. I didn't notice it until the next day when I was swapping out the license plate lights with some LED bulbs. Knocked a hole in the under side of the bumper and looks like maybe they backed into me and hit me with a hitch/ball. No note. The shitty part was I had just made the first payment on the truck that Monday.
