benchcrafted's "shaker workbench" was an inspiration for me, ..i tried to incorporate some elements of it in the making of my workbench...

..looks like a fine shop space, ...w/ the exception of the occasional single digits-to-teens days, ..i'd be out there woodworking... maybe you get it worse in MT though!

Average this year was 2° w/out wind chill. Shop runs on a generator until we run power out that way next year. Otherwise I’d have a better heater and then I can use it in the winter.

Yeah, seen your Roubo and it’s super clean.

Mine looks better from a distance. Def understand what they mean by saying you need a good bench to build a good bench lol

It took me five years to convince my wife that a work bench is not a shelfIMG_0654.jpg
Now she is treating the wheel barrow as a Shelf

A few years back I designed and built this bench. I've had others made from wood over the years but this one is the best one so far and super solid. I probably won't have a need to build another one in my lifetime.

Looks like some things you'd see on GarageJournal. need to pick up some welding skills and i'll do something like that one day. until then what i've fabbed together so far. removable vise and small drawer underneath top surface. bench held together with simpson strongties. was my first real solo woodworking project. Mobile with harborfreight castors.

I like to use these racks from Grainger. I leave the bottom piece off so I can roll boxes underneath. At waist height I use a solid core door to make a workbench. Every thing above that is storage in totes. These are 2 feet deep so they don’t eat up much floor space.

    Now we’re talkin!
Btw, how do you like your drum sander? Is it hard to keep the parallel adjusted?

Like it a lot. Once the parallelism was dialed in, haven’t had any trouble with it.

Very nice. That’s on my short list of upcoming acquisitions.

That looks like a nice heavy bench.

I’m hoping to start my Nicholson build in October once it starts to cool down here in FL

Thanks, it started out as a pile of pretty manky old boards, but I just wanted something sturdy and cheap that I could beat on. Nuthin’ fancy...
